Not a Feel but I like that people put the name they want to be called in parentheses and you respond with (it's yours) in parentheses it's like you're whispering and it's cute

I am leaving this blog. I find it that this blog is too stressful due to most mods being inactive. - Mod Venu
I didn't realize it when it actually got posted, but a couple of my posts (🐉☠️ dragonbone) have been misattributed? They've been tagged as dragon skull bc the two sets of emoji are basically the same... dragon skull used 🐉☠ but that's basically the same thing...
I changed them. Do you know if you were the first one to use this emoji set? Whoever was first can keep the emoji combination. - Mod Venu
I have a speech disability (Cluttering) and a learning disability (Dyscalculia). I don't know if I'm a cousin. I'm about to go to college and I've sent them my IEP so I can have accommodations but they asked me for a psychological evaluation to finalize everything. That's when I realized that I never had one. My mom did not like that. She insisted I didn't need one which bothered me. I've struggled with socialization, sadness, reading people and etc my whole life. I need to know the answers.
I think you are a cousin. You probably have similar experiences and symptoms that autistic people have.
Your mom sounds ? ableist. I am not sure, though, I feel like she sees psychological evaluation as a bad thing, like there is something wrong with you. Or that sort of thing. Going to a psychologist is not a bad thing and could even help you learn things about yourself. You want to go to the college, so you need the evaluation. I hope you will know the answers sooner rather than later. - Mod Venu
I think I am autistic - where to start?
We got many questions about the same thing, so here is a bigger post.
- How can I go about talking to my psych about possibly diagnosing me as autistic? I don’t even know where to begin and would like some advice - wicked-witch-pan-bitch
- hi, i think i might be autistic. i experience a lot of the symptoms that i’ve heard described from both autistic people and from research online about it, and i was wondering if you had any advice on how to broach the subject with my parents & possibly talk to them about talking to a professional just so i can know whether or not i am autistic. also i am very sorry if this message comes off as rude or offensive in any way, i swear that that was not my intention!! - anonymous
- Hahaha hi I’ve been suspecting autism in myself for about 2 weeks now (since i figured out that my sensitivity to the texture of paper and other such things was weird) and done a lot of research but I’m really scared to talk to my mom about it and I don’t know when I’ll be seeing my doctor again, plus I’m already being screened for depression (its very likely I have it) anxiety and already have ADHD. What do?? - anonymous
(Actually, ADHD can include sensory issues! But autism and ADHD can be comorbid.)
I really would suggest first looking at this self-diagnosis masterpost because it is very helpful and thorough.
If you can, print (or write down) the diagnostic criteria and then highlight what applies to you. Include examples of what specifically those things are in your case and how they affect your life. You can show people that highlighted version, if you can. I think, if you psychologist is a good one and confidential (i.e. won’t tell your parents, for example), you should be able to talk honestly about your problems and how they affect your every day life. If you feel like it would be safe to bring up the topic with parents, you could do that too.
Followers, do you have any more ideas? - Mod Venu
Anxiety attack / meltdown / shutdown
This was originally an ask but we don’t have it anymore. The response was so long that I thought it deserves its own post. I also included the definition of a meltdown. - Mod Venu
Whats the difference between an anxiety attack and a shutdown...? -loop ➰
Anxiety attack Similar symptoms as a panic attack has but they are generally less intense and can last for longer than panic attacks do. Anxiety attacks can include hypersensitivity to chaos/sensory input, bouts of rage/irritability, not moving, talking fast or unclearly, not talking.
Meltdown Symptoms include self-harm, shouting, aggressive behaviour, stimming. During a meltdown the person can harm others/themselves.
Shutdown Symptoms are not responding to communication, not moving. The person kind of "goes away" for awhile.
Tuafw you're studying up on autism and you're on the fence about whether or not you have it at first because you assume you had a "normal childhood," but when you ask your mom about it you realize you had SO MANY STIMS AND SENSORY ISSUES WHEN YOU WERE A LITTLE KID!!! LIKE HOLY CRAP HOW WERE YOU NOT AWARE OF THIS BEFORE?!?!? And suddenly everything makes so much more sense. (May I please be ♠️🔮 ace witch?)
(Yes)
tuafw ur at disney w people u dont normally go with so they mess up the entire routine and walk to slow and stress you out so much you have a break down - 👻🚶(can i be ghost boy?)
(That emoji combination is not taken but ‘ghost boy’ is taken. Maybe you could send us another way to tag this? Phantom boy? I will tag this as such so that if you send us a message asking for a new tag, I can find it. - Mod Venu)
