hey, I was wondering if there is a label specifically for intersex people (which i am) which are on the baseline cismasculine and cisfeminine, but fluctuate between being transfeminine and transmasculine on top of that. resulting in sometimes being cisfem & trismasc and other times cismasc & trisfem . ^_^

A modal identity for intersex individuals who are always cismasculine & cisfeminine, but sometimes fluctuate into being transmasculine/transfeminine on top of that, resulting in trismasculinity/femininity.

There's a very common misconception that 'gender modality' refers to words like 'transfeminine', 'cisandrogynous', or 'trismaverine'. Prefix + quality. What a gender modality *actually* is is those prefixes! Trans-, cis-, tris-, iso-, ipso-, and so on. Not terms that describe what someone's gender itself is, but rather, terms that describe the relationship between one's gender and external expectations of what their gender are. We've been meaning to make a post explaining this for a long time, and this isn't that post, so in the meantime if you do want to read more about modality, here's a link to the Nature article (https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-024-01719-9) where it was coined

What this post *is* about is figuring out what to call those terms that *are* modality + quality. The terms that commonly get misunderstood as being modalities themselves

We've been tagging them as 'transitioning terms' for a while but that's not a great tag for it. For one thing, it only includes 'trans' terms, and doesn't make room for other modalities such as cis, abs, or iso. The phrasing also suggests that the act of transition is involved, when this doesn't accurately reflect the diversity of trans experiences

We've been mentally microwaving this for a while now but we can't think of any solutions, so I'm making a post about it in the hopes of sparking some conversation about it and maybe getting a better term to use!

Sencis: only experiencing one's natal gender (or the gender typically associated with one's birth assignment, ASAB, or original endogenous sex status) through one's cisness or cismodality; being cismodal or cisgender but not experiencing one's assigned gender outside the context of one's gender modality.

Retugender (a more deliberate term, counterpart to recugender): not feeling as your birth gender, but refusing to be labeled as trans. Anyone can use it for any reason, including silly ones.

Retusgender (cis* equivalent term of refusgender): not experiencing one's birth gender while experiencing cisgenderness; a cismodal or otherwise transn't individual not feeling their birth gender.

Sentrans can also be a counterpart to sencis. It reminds a bit of sensgender or sentiogender, but also based on the affinitive condigender aspect of sapphogender and vinciagender.

Imosril is a neogender umbrella related to the fear of unreality, madness, things not being quite right, spirals, fractals, lying and deception, delusions and hallucinations, optical illusions, mazes, insomnia, impossibility, and The Spiral from The Magnus Archives.

Imosril is not in itself xenogender, although some specific imosril terms may overlap. While intended to describe gender, imosril may be used for other types of identity as well.

Imosril Terminology

The gender nature for imosril is IMIN, which stands for imosril-in-nature.

The gender quality for imosril is imosrial, with the noun form being imosreality.

The alignment for imosril is imosrilic.

An individual imosril gender is called an imoscin, the plural form of which is imoscins.

The transitioning term is transimosril, which can be shortened to transimo.

An imosrial adult may be called a somnact, while an imosrial minor may be called a rynth.

The word 'imosril' comes from a combination of the words 'insomnia', 'unreality', and the suffix '-osis'. The word 'somnact' comes from the words 'insomnia' and 'fractal', and the word 'rynth' comes from the word 'labyrinth'. Overall, the terms are meant to evoke imosrial concepts.

Chokrypt

Chokrypt is a neogender umbrella related to the fear of being trapped without enough space, claustrophobia, small spaces, being unable to breathe, being underground, debt, drowning, pressure, and The Buried from The Magnus Archives.

A chrokrypt gender is called a chokebt (plural chokebts), and the gender nature is CHOIN (chokrypt-in-nature). The gender quality is keptity or keptine, and the alignment is chokine. The transitioning term is transkeptine. A keptine adult may be called a lender, and a keptine minor may be called a castet.

The word 'chokrypt' comes from 'choke' and 'crypt'. The word 'chokebt' comes from 'choke' and 'debt'. The word 'castet' comes from 'casket'. Huge thanks to IWB for helping us with the terms for this!!

There could be a term for gender identity × gender modality combination terms

Like transfem, trans man, trans maverique...

We call them and tag them as transitioning terms, but we'd like a better term for it that also includes things like "cis" and "ad". We've seen some people call them gender modalities but this is incorrect; gender modalities refers only to the prefix, like cis or trans, but not to the combination, like cis man or transfeminine.

If anyone has suggestions we'd love to hear them!
