Can you help me here? I'm confused on what cis means and what it means to be pansexual. I'm hoping I can ask you so i get the non biased facts. And the truth about feminism would be nice too. I'm tired of the drama involved in all this. I'm afraid to state my stance

Cis is short for cisgender, which means your neurological gender aligns with your biological/anatomical gender. Or at least, that’s the practical answer. I think there’s a bunch of stuff about chromosomes and such but that’s more technical and I don’t think it’s quite as important when it comes to talking about it in general on the social justice scene (someone can correct me on that part if I’m wrong).

Feminism… is a very broad movement when it comes to the people and opinions within it.Every movement has its good and its bad. The basic idea behind feminism is definitely a very good one, being that women should have equal rights as men. Modern feminism has been defined by some as an equality movement for everyone—men, women, blacks, whites, asians, latinos/latinas, gays, lesbians, bisexuals, transexuals, the list goes on. And a lot of the feminists I’ve met who define feminism as such have been really cool people (for a long time I considered myself a feminist). However, a lot of bigots have worked their way into the feminism crowd and have given it a bad name, connecting it to misandry, heterophobia, cisphobia, etc. It’s a very mixed crowd and honestly at this point it’s not easy to say it’s good or bad. Personally, I just avoid affiliation with any specific group (and the same goes for this blog) because a lot of them have been named as hate groups because of all the noisy bigots in them. So.

tl;dr: Feminism has a lot of good people in it and a lot of bad people in it and it’s not all that easy to call completely “good” or “bad”. This blog and I avoid calling ourselves feminist or any other movement because there’s so much shit out there saying they’re all hate movements.

a pregnant woman doesn't quite count as variety in body type, all those women you posted are basically skinny, you're kindof making their own point for them.

That’s not what I got out of it. Maybe I just read it wrong.

I got that they were all the exact same body type (boobs included) with different hair and clothes. Yeah, these characters are all essentially skinny, but I must point out that it’s more because they’re fit than because they’re perfectly skinny or whatever. In the world they’re in, there has been one main character who was not skinny. It’s less a function of “skinny is beautiful” than a function of how the world in the series works.

Anyway. If you take out that one characteristic, you have short and tall, …busty? and flat, disabled and abled, light and dark skin (maybe I should have added Korra for that point — who, by the way, is even in the series mentioned as not particularly skinny but rather muscular, which is quite different from this post — back on topic), old and young, etc. So.

Okay, can we seriously get past the labels of the social justice world? Like, this is seriously hurting the communication between people who want to do good things for the world. Yes, there are lots of people who have given feminism a bad name and perhaps one could consider it "bad" on the whole, but what does it matter if someone calls themselves a feminist? And MRA's are the same deal. There are shitty people in every movement, and perhaps too much of the movement is shitty people, but what matters is the individual's actions.

I've seen too many instances of people who want to help out and do good being forced apart from each other because of these dumb labels. Can we please stop fighting over them and actually accomplish something or share ideas free of names?

Ah, I should probably mention this at some point -

Dark Link has decided to permanently leave this blog, and has even gone on a long hiatus from his personal. The general attitude of people involved in social justice (that means everyone, not just [insert tumblr SJ demographic you don't like here]) on this site really got to him, and it started to mess with his head.

So he did the reasonable thing and left. I really don't blame him. This place is goddamn toxic, from all sides.

This is just an announcement. Please don't send messages intended for Dark Link - I won't pass them along, I'll just delete them. No need for him to get drawn back in by that sort of thing.

Dark Link, whenever you read this message, just know that it's people like you that truly show our worth. You fight to keep logic and reason and that's something I try to do but I'm not good at in my current state. You inspire me and remind me that sjw's, or at least the ones on tumblr, are not knights in shining armor; that they are also wrong at times and they must acknowledge it eventually. This website has quickly become polluted with extremist groups in my opinion, and I'm glad to see you

and everyone associated with this blog fighting to remind us that we need to be reasonable. We need to be smart and just about this stuff. That equality does not come through holding grudges or hating on people. That equality is something that cannot be attained through more bigotry and hatred. You inspire me and you’re an example that most of tumblr should notice and strive to follow. I’m not trying to idolize you or this group but it’s hard not to when this is one of the only groups I’ve seen

fight for actual equality and try to use reason in their arguments. You all remind me of my theory of knowledge teacher and he’s a great man. He would probably be proud of everyone on this blog for attempting to not fall into fallacies and requiring proof before accepting accusations; things he’s taught me and everyone in my class to do. I’m a bit of a hot head so I can quickly throw reason out the door but that’s a flaw I hope to rectify so I can actually make respectable arguments on here. I

hope you recover from all of the crap that’s on this sight and know that this fight, this social justice war I would call it, is getting intense and extreme. It’s where people like you come along and remind us that we must remain calm and think instead of shout. Listen instead of rant. Think logically and thoughtfully instead of ignorantly. I hope you have a wonderful day wherever you are.

Welp.

I'm sick of this bullshit.

As I said in my last ask, I'm fucking done with the RSJ, Anti-SJW, and Anti-Feminism communities. They've degraded to too many people making stupid, snarky, unhelpful comments, arguing with SJW's/etc for no good reason, using logical fallacies while saying they're bad, condoning hate for someone who is being rude, claiming that there are "good" opinions and "bad" opinions, and generally becoming like SJW's, but the light version with reversed opinions. It's tiring and I tried my hardest to make a blog where instead of doing that shit, we talk about issues without being jerks. Obviously it did not work as well as I wanted it to, but maybe it will get better as we gain more followers. 

Either way, seeing so much bullshit from both sides of these debates has made me so sick of being on tumblr and not being able to do anything that I just need to leave. I just can't deal with it, especially since I'm having my share of personal problems too.

So.

I'm not quitting (yet), but I'm going to take a nice long hiatus. If you wanna bug me any more I might allow the other mods to disclose my personal if you're off anon. Maybe it'll be better when I come back.
