Does anyone here have experience with resin 3D printers? I kind of want to buy one for the finer parts of my 3D printed models. E.g. I’m currently designing bus wheels in 1:160:
This has a diameter of 5.8mm, with the tiny holes for the bolts at 0.2mm in an 0.3mm ring. Clearly even with the 0.2mm nozzle (stupid clog magnet), my A1 mini is not going to do a good job with these. But the whole resin, wash and cure process seems so annoying. Is it really that bad? I don’t have a lot of space, so the most logical thing for me would be to put it in my kitchen where it’ll be close to windows to air out any smells, but keeping it around my food also feels like a bad idea to me.
And is there a minimum use count for the printer to make sense (I already know I will go months without using it at all and if that means everything is gunked up with dried up resin that would be a deal breaker).
After some googling I am vaguely eyeing the Saturn 4 Ultra 16K or Mars 5 Ultra, probably with the two part wash and cure things (Mercury XS) just because I’m too lazy to rebuild the one thing every time, but I’ll have to get a tape measure out first to see whether it’ll fit. I don’t really need the extra space afforded by the larger printer, but there is something to be said for being able to print an entire European passenger car (26,4 meters normally, in 1:160 scale 165 mm, a bit more for some restaurant, double deck and cab cars) in one go. I have no such plans at the moment but, why not.
Yeah, any feedback for this would be welcome.
