NEVER TOO OLD TO LEARN A LESSON
Finally! After months of different shoots I (think anyway..) have a good variety of photos for my portfolio. I selected a few photos from each shoot I've done, printed, and now I have to narrow down to find the perfect combination for the portfolio. These pictures are a combination of doing TFP/trade shoots (which make up most of the photos) and two paid shoots.
One HUGE lesson learned from doing these shoots is that infamous saying.. "If it sounds too good to be true..." Well. I got talked in to paying for a shoot from a "really experienced and amazing photographer" who can get me those last shots I "need". I had had such great experience with all the other photographers up till this point that I didn't ask a lot of questions because, until this experience, I thought certain things were standard. They are not!!!
The session with this "amazing photographer" was a total let down, the photos were even more disappointing, and then when I brought up the subject of a reshoot (as I was promised) it was clear that was not going to happen. Out of 5 different looks he took a total of 78 photos (thats how much time he spent with me) and out of 78 photos I have ONE great photo, AND out of 5 looks and a lot of money paid he only owed me 2 edited photos. Which is crap. But now I know what to ask before I agree to anything.
All in all it's an expensive lesson learned and I am ready to move on and forget the negative!! My focus now is to finalize my book and then hit the pavement submitting to agencies. We'll see!!!!
