Murtagh: So, according to my university, it is, quote, “my responsibility if there is an internet outage to contact the faculty and the department.”
Murtagh: Now, if you’re a critical thinker like me, you might be wondering one thing.
Murtagh: HOW THE FUCK AM I SUPPOSED TO EMAIL THE DEPARTMENT?!
Modern Inheritance Cycle AU || Arya
@weirdponytail [insert clever Arya quote from one of Ket’s fics]
Please don’t repost without permission.
I said i don't do faces and i fuckin meant it.
you can, however, see the barest bit of sideburns lol
Working on bringing a new concept in with the Riders Signs. Not linked to the Riders really, but a method of reading and understanding body language that is ‘encoded’ in a way. I like to imagine that Brom, Arya and Glen spent years working on developing it between them, and once they had it down they spread it to a select few trusted members of the Varden and elves. For when even Riders Signs would be too obvious, in case of capture and oaths, it combines body language, small facial tics, muscle movements, and, most importantly, relies on the user having at least some previous experience with mental communication and direct eye contact.
It’s basically reading micro expressions but with more direct and specific words rather than involuntary emotions. When free to do so the sender can ‘pulse,’ sending a simplistic thought phrase that lingers like a ‘ghost’ due to the visual cues indicating the idea or thought pulsed out. It does not require lowering mental barriers for either on the message chain, though clarity is improved when the sender opens their barriers to send the pulse.
The pulse has a limited range, and thus is not a true requirement of this new method but it helps when the recipient or the sender are not completely comfortable with the method yet or when more complex things need to be communicated. Even with a pulse, these ghost messages and visual cues can only communicate a handful of words at a time, usually only one or two sentences.
At this point, Eragon (and Saphira) are unaware that Brom has been subtly teaching them this odd language without words. He didn’t want them having knowledge of what it really was just in case they were captured and Eragon’s mind was broken. This Eragon understands but has no idea how or why.
Eragon characters as high school stereotypes pt.1
I saw a lot of highschool AU of the Inheritance Cycle and honestly it fits them perfectly, also, I was bored, so here we are.
Eragon: The new one in the school, awkward but nice and fills every teacher with questions after questions. He knows how to make many friends and is very generous. Arya picked up the pen he dropped and now he is in love because the boy is a hopeless romantic.
Saphira: Eragon sister, he really loves him and will beat up anyone who insultes him. She is genuinely intelligent, very beautiful and loves attention.
Murtagh: A sophomore in high school, he's the introverted, silent kid who wants nothing to do with drama but somehow always gets to be part of it. He's Morzan little brother, who bullies him constantly. His grades are quite high and consistent and he is attentive in class.
Thorn: He has been friends with Murtagh since freshman year; although he has known him for not long he would protect him at all costs. He is quite social, but often forgoes company to stay with Murtagh.
Arya: In the third year, she's quiet and adored by the teachers because she always settle fights and stop bullies, or at least try to. In addition, she has excellent grades and good behavior. She is not particularly popular, except for her so talked natural beauty.
Galbatorix: In his senior year, his report card is perfect and he is very popular in the school. Despite his seemingly impeccable behavior, everyone is terrified of him as he is known to be able to completely ruin your social life. However, he is too smart and too loved by teachers to be caught.
Morzan: Also a senior, he is Galbatorix's closest friend. He's the sports star, popular but feared because he's openly a bully who might beat you up just because you've been looking into his eyes for a little too long. Plus, he's the official senior drug dealer (he's been suspended multiple times for selling weed).
Brom: He was 'friend' with Morzan in the early years of school, but then he joined Galbatorix, acting worse and worse. Anyway, he's a fourth year and he's known enough to try and stand up to Galbatorix's bullying. He is constantly looking for a way to frame him, but has not yet managed to get him reported. He is very intelligent and prefers to be quiet, but has many friends.
Nasuada: she's in the second year, quite popular for helping brom to stand up to Galbatorix and Morzan. Literally everyone in the school knows that she and Murtagh like each other, except her and Murtagh.
Angela: The substitute teacher that everyone adores. She's completely wacky and out of her mind, she runs the art and chemistry lab. Nothing is known about her, not even her age, other than that she owns a cat, Solembum.
Saw a WIP of a future MIC oneshot, and was reminded of one of my crack OTPs: Arya x that one jailer who gave her the flower
the main others are eragon x formora, eragon x islanzadi, and murtagh x arya
take your time to think about this one: izzy and oromis, do you ship it? why or why not?
Hey anon, sorry this took me a week or more.
Straightforward answer: that is a big heckin' no, my guy. I've never understood why people ship them. The only interaction we see happen between them (that I remember) is when Oromis and Glaedr reveal themselves to Eragon and Co. in Ellesméra, and it isn't all that pleasant of a conversation. Maybe it's because they're both the most plotwise important elves we meet in Eldest and we didn't have many others to pair up? Iunno. I guess I'm not much a fan of shipping in general.
