Rosie sat down beside the soldier in the corner, tray in hand, with a soft sigh of relief. It was quieter over here, and far less attention from the soldiers who were fighting for it and flirting with her and the other singers. A lack of women was apparently a problem, one she didn't want to solve, thank you very much.
Still, she was grateful for the quieter spot. "I'm sorry to intrude, but it seemed...less crowded over here."
Food in the mess hall wasn't glamorous, and certainly not what she was used to, but it was better than nothing. Hungry? Don't turn your nose up to what's served, that's what her mother said. 'Make a face and you get another bite.'
However, she did have something sweet up her sleeves to share if he didn't oppose her presence. A trade.
