BMY 687 This 1935 Morris special was an original Morris 8 Sports Tourer. It had a ground up restoration job with a difference, or two. It now has a specially made stainless steel body, a brand new engine and a gearbox converted to a 4-speed, allegedly making it drive like a modern car. MORRIS EIGHT (SERIES 1) Morris' big seller of the 1930's and the model that turned the company around. The engine is a Morris copy of the Ford 8hp unit, but improved in detail, with a three bearing crank, mated to a three speed gearbox The attractive body also closely resembled the Ford, the Tourer sold for £ 120 when new and helped the Eight capture the public imagination with 20,000 sales. From Summer 1933 the cars were updated with Hardy-Spicer Universal Joints replacing fabric joints. The Series 2 of 1938 incorporated cosmetic changes to keep the Eight in line with the Morris family , painted radiator shells, Easiclean wheels and bodies now in a single colour, but still with black wings unlike other 1938 Morris cars. The Series II stuck with the same running gear as before but remained a strong seller. Diolch am 96,698,133 o olygfeydd anhygoel, mae pob un yn cael ei werthfawrogi'n fawr.
