#basicyogamix kicked my butt today. Not only did I not get into the pose multiple times- but, my puppy kept coming over to offer "moral support" and offer up her squeaky pheasant to make me feel better.... after slapping me in the face with her ears.... I ultimately decided to settle on the modification: baby grasshopper. I still can't get my hips off the floor, but I'm getting there! I could feel it this time! Thank you @kinoyoga and @beachyogagirl for "making" me try a pose I otherwise avoid. I had great fun. And check it out, I'm wearing my @aloyoga pants! I love these pants... So, I had a longer video.... but, it was way too long, so I just picked the part that shows best what I'm talking about.... #utthitaparsvakonasana I lot of times, people will just reach forward and then come right down into this pose. If I try to do it that way, I find that my stomach gets in the way (my stomach gets in the way a lot... oh well). I feel cramped and it becomes hard to breathe. To solve this, I bring both hands down inside, let my knee fall to the outside and then drop down below my knee as much as I can. I graze against my leg and roll my shoulder over my knee so I can place my hand to the outside- this makes it so that my leg is literally holding my stomach and chest off to the side for me. From here, I can roll my top shoulder open and start to lean back, but still maintain my balance. There are tons of modifications for this pose, too. You can bring your forearm to your leg and reach the other arm high, or you can use a block at the inside or outside of your front foot and bring the floor up to you.
