Moidart, Scotland
Many of you will undoubtedly have stopped at the Glenfinnan Monument on Loch Shiel, and stared all the way down that beautiful loch. But did you know you can cycle all the way along it, for 16 miles? I'll admit I had no idea, so yesterday I went for a pedal from Polloch at its southern end to see for myself. I got a little more than half way up the loch before I ran out of time and had to come back, but this was wonderfully remote countryside and the views across to Moidart were superb. :)
A word of warning if you drive over the hill from Strontian to Polloch though.....your clutch might never forgive you! ;-)

The skies of my ability are narrow enough,
though my desire is wide, to build a wall on such a big foundation.
I need a chiselled stone,
I need a polished stone,
though my will is torn,
I am bereft of skill, unschooled art is a thing without substance,
on a subject like honey.
Today's Flickr photo with the most hits: Castle Tioram, Loch Moidart.
Keds keds keds keds keds. Here's one of many that landed on me today.....and I even got bitten by one for the very first time (that I'm aware of).
Rain every day, and winds strong enough to deter all the but the craziest masochists from anything above 300m. Frankly I'd expect nothing less from the west coast in October, and as ever it's therefore been a case of 'snatch and grab' whatever weather windows offer themselves up. In this kind of set up, if you don't use it you lose it!
In yesterday's case it was a couple of hours in the morning and an hour in the afternoon. So first up, a circuit taking in the Silver Walk and Castle Tioram, followed by a low-tide amble around Ardtoe.
I'd been to Tioram before but had been meaning to do the Silver Walk for a while. Yep, in this freakishly warm autumn it was both keddy and ticky.....but it was beautiful
Nice!
