moira headcanons
approximate timeline of my bby
BC (Year 26) > Moira is an egg, rescued from Dragonmaw forces by unnamed hero.
BC > WotLK (Year 27) Sometime after the death of Zuluhed, Moira hatches, growing up among a freed Netherwing flight (likely year 27)
WotLK > Cata (Year 28) Netherwing grow concerned as some of the dragons sent to investigate the Dark Portal and Azeroth go missing. (Some of those dragons in the first round included Zzeraku’s bunch) Moira herself is still a whelp raised in Netherwing Ledge
Cata > MoP (Year 31) At some point, Moira matures into a drake and masters a mortal form. A new set of scouts is sent to discover Azeroth and see it for themselves--Moira volunteers
MoP > WoD (Year 31) Moira makes it to Azeroth, explores the area, manages to get message back to her family, decides she wants to stay and explore the world more. Eventually runs into the Trifang Syndicate and joins them
Legion (Year 32/current) Sometime as Legion activity sparks, Yubao leaves Trifang and Moira follows after.
More precise numbers--Moira is somewhere in her fourth year and still has some of her whelpling scales, she’s very much an adolescent
-Has likely known Yubao for a year or so at this point? Still has HARDCORE latched onto bearmom. no mercy. By year 31, Yubao is in charge of Trifang, Moira is one of the earliest members to join. Yubao grows attached to weird dragon daughter.
-by year 32 moira is still fairly young, although she’s starting to grow into her drake form a little better. is still fairly lanky tho and unbalanced. has become one of the “founding” members of the gilded serpent, although really it’s just yubao in charge, the survivors of trifang who came after, and awkward tag along moira
other notes about moira:
-has not been to Northrend, Pandaria, or Draenor. Was born in Outlands, has traveled to Eastern Kingdoms obviously as well as Kalimdor, is active on Broken Isles
-Will in fact write to her family, there’s likely a mage somewhere in the guild whose job is to go with moira to shattrath through a portal so she can send letters back. they are not to ask questions. yubao has ordered them not to ask questions. so they don’t.
-from a later brood of neltharku/karyarku, although they’re her parents, making mordenai her brother obviously, and most of the netherwing either her direct siblings or uncles/aunts (assuming most of the older netherwing were from the original clutch) relatedly, deathwing would be her grandfather, with all of his children being.....great uncles/aunts?
-was conscious in the egg like any dragon, thereby fully aware of how her flight was enslaved. unsurprisingly, she hates dragonmaw with a passion. has also been raised in aftermath of that, making her generally distrustful of any darker skinned orc (either dragonmaw or blackrock, green or brown skinned orcs she’s not too fussed over). if she ever heard the voice of whoever rescued her egg, she’d know them even though she never saw them.
-likely saw yarzill as a favored uncle as well for his efforts to smuggle her egg out of netherwing ledge
-was familiar with and friends with the BEM black dragonflight, as both flights ahd a connection after the netherwing were free. the BEM had no idea of sintharia’s plans. the netherwing on outland are still clueless of what sintharia did or where their eggs went, as moira has not found them, and zzeraku’s nether drakes were killed.
All multiples of three for the OC question thing. You can choose any OC to answer each question about (so they don't all have to be about the same one)
/clutches fist
you’re just
so good to me
To make it simple though, we’ll stick to Moira, my shitty nether dragon, Caecillia, my new GW2 charr, and Solara, the light of my life, the trashiest espeon.
3. Did they have a good childhood? What are fond memories they have of it? What’s a bad memory?
This one goes to Moira! Dragons tend to understand what’s going on around them while in the egg, so before she hatched, Moira had a bit of a bad time. Nether dragons were enslaved to serve orcs and as a result, in the egg that was in theory Moira’s destiny. (She had been hidden away among some crystals on the Island, found by an adventurer and brought back to one of the nether dragon infiltrators, who got her to safety). After that whole incident though, by the time she hatched the orcs had been pretty much destroyed, so as a result her childhood wasn’t terrible. She’s a bright kid, generally enthusiastic and easy-going, and so even under the constant warnings and paranoia of her elders, she thrived. Generally she’s fond of her childhood--lots of memories of playing around with other tiny siblings, her first attempts at flight, etc etc.
6. What were they like at school? Did they enjoy it? Did they finish? What level of higher education did they reach? What subjects did they enjoy? Which did they hate?
Cae gets this one, being the only character to technically “go to school”. Charr go to fahrar which is like boot camp. For kids. Cae didn’t particularly like her time at the fahrar, usually seen by her twin’s side because while both she and Vex were small, Vex was real good at being snarly and intimidating and Cae wasn’t.
Cae never enjoyed one on one combat, working far better with Vex by her side as a distraction while Cae swung around and picked at enemies from the side. She’s learned how to fight on her own more or less, but she’s not a fan.
She did excel at tactics though. She’s learned all sorts of battle strategies from her Legion, and when she grew bored of that, picked up how Ash and Iron battle strategies worked. It’s gotten her into a lot of trouble when she calls out flawed strategies, but still.
9. Do animals like them? Do they get on well with animals?
Moira gets along great with animals. She’s very excited by every new creature she comes across, loves to give everything scritches even when it shouldn’t necessarily get scritches (MOIRA DO NOT PET THE GIANT SPIDER).
Her favorite though is her own black kitten named Aces.
12. What is their favourite food?
Solara, my one true love, my sun in my life, really like lemon flavored things. When she eventually becomes a god among mere mortals, the people of the town she watches over often leave offerings of lemonade and lemon candies.
15. Are they good at cooking? Do they enjoy it? What do others think of their cooking?
Caecillia’s idea of cooking usually boils down to “Make a stew! :D” So she’s actually not terrible at cooking, but mostly because her cooking is done while she’s on the road, over a campfire, dumping whatever edible she scavenged into a pot. And considering she’s a fan of bread and stew, she’s always happy.
Don’t make her cook in a kitchen though. It’ll end with something on fire.
18. What’s their favourite genre of: books, music, tv shows, films, video games and anything else
Modern au Sol would really dig long, complicated fantasy novels. Mostly because she likes catching the references to like, three books ago and screaming to Ghost and Brina “LOOK IT’S RELEVANT OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!”
As for music she’s not picky and will listen to pretty much anything. She’s not the biggest fan of slower music like classic or jazz and prefers something more upbeat or at least faster, like pop.
TV Shows/Filmwise, Sol digs procedural crime dramas mostly cause she likes figuring out the killer before anyone else. She’s also a fan of really trashy television like MTV stuff. She also watches the TV renditions of any of the fantasy books she likes. Film wise, she’s not the pickiest and will pretty much tag along to whatever Ghost/Brina wanna see in theater.
Video games, give her either anything that’s first person shooter, because she likes screaming and gunning down people and cackling, or hardcore fantasy RPGs.
21. Do they have a temper? Are they patient? What are they like when they do lose their temper?
Moira is disgustingly patient. Her tolerance for pretty much anything is insanely high, and even around things she doesn’t like at all, the worst is she’ll cheerfully recommend taking them out. Losing her temper though, she’d be like. You know that one trope where the cutesy person finally loses their shit and they brutally murder everything. That’s Moira.
24. What is their sleeping pattern like? Do they snore? What do they like to sleep on? A soft or hard mattress?
Cae catches up on sleep whenever humanly (charrly?) possible. Being a mercenary, her sleep pattern is fairly erratic so basically if she can sleep for the next five to eight hours, she’ll do it, she doesn’t care where or what time of day it is. She’s used to sleeping on pretty much all surfaces, although she generally prefers a bed. Doesn’t sleep with covers cause she’s covered in fur. Shamelessly leaves the bed all fuzzy for whoever gets it next. Rude.
27. What makes them sad? Do they cry regularly? Do they cry openly or hide it? What are they like they are sad?
Solara likes to claim she doesn’t cry. She’ll absolutely go out of her way to hide crying, and rarely actually cries so much as gets morose and despondent if she’s really upset. It’s generally hard to snap her out of those phases, best one can do is just sorta support and wait for her to get over it. That kind of really broken up sadness is rare though, usually if something upsets her it just sorta makes her shrug, she cracks a joke, and moves on.
30. Do they exercise? Regularly? Or only when forced? What do they act like pre-work out and post-work out?
All three are part of generally fighty-fantasy kind of things, so they have no choice but to exercise semi-regularly. Mostly when trying not to die.
Cae complains about it for hours after though.
33. What underwear do they wear? Boxers or briefs? Lacey? Comfy granny panties?
Modern!Sol would probably wear boxers? I guess? I don’t know?
36. What are they good at? What hobbies do they like? Can they sing?
Moira is disgustingly good at card games. For some reason she’s awful at everything else, but she’s got uncanny luck when it comes to card games. Otherwise, she generally just likes flying or hanging out with people or people watching--it’s not unusual to find her in pubs or taverns or whatever just sorta chilling and watching people talk and hang out. Also, she’s never really tried or felt the need to sing?
39. Do they like letters? Or prefer emails/messaging?
Modern!Sol far prefers messaging. It’s way faster.
42. What are their goals? What would they sacrifice anything for? What is their secret ambition?
Cae hands down wants to be recognized. She hard core craves approval, for recognition independent of what her mother achieved. She wants people to see her as someone great.
She totally wants a statue.
She absolutely wants a statue.
AND a cool legend.
And for people to name their kids after her.
But definitely the statue.
45. How do other people see them? Is it similar to how they see themselves?
Being tall and bulky, Sol comes off as intimidating. But honestly she’s actually the biggest dork, so like, there’s no reason to be afraid of her.
48. Do they enjoy any parties? If so what kind? Do they organise the party or just turn up? How do they act? What if they didn’t want to go but were dragged along by a friend?
Moira thinks parties are the coolest idea ever. She absolutely shows up to every single one she hears about if she can, regardless of invitation, because it’s an opportunity to meet new people. She’s very chatty and friendly and amicable and totally brushes off the whole “wait are you even supposed to be here” with aplomb.
On the off chance she doesn’t want to go (all orc party 0/10) she’d be absolutely super sulky and just stick to her friend’s side and glare at everyone ever.

anyways as i was saying
nether dragon headcanons and assorted junk
the way i broke it down was nether dragons that were adult were considered first gen and thereby siblings of the matriarch/patriarch. dragons that were drakes or younger were considered second gen and thereby their kids.
i added the black dragon family tree or the important parts for reference and for funsies. wrathion is debated to be deathwing’s grandkid apparently which is weird because it was confirmed nyxondra is in fact deathwing’s daughter. your guess is as good as mine, folks
ash is a friend’s oc for the record, she’s an OL black dragon
so basically all im getting out of this is it’s a good thing incest is apparently magicked away because kary and nelth are brother/sister just saying
and wrathion/moira/ash are all cousins haha that’s weird what a weird family reunion
because i have a rogue, i’ve decided im gonna do the fangs of the father chain because a. ROGUE LEGENDARY and b. i want cool wings
...which leads to me making up headcanons about how my tiny nether drake deals with wrathion. the actual quest chain probably isn’t canon, but at some point with wrathion being such a huge lore figure im sure moira has encountered him so most of this is vaguely relevant
further pictures of my dumb shitty netherdrake pretending to be a blood elf
headcanon for moira
basically even though she can’t keep her mouth shut and lacks common sense, moira is hands down one of the best scouts/spies/intel gatherers the syndicate has. her disarming personality easily gets her involved with anyone, and her ability to phase between worlds makes her practically invisible (and even invulnerable) when she wants to be
the only downside is she usually has to have a partner with her, because otherwise the accuracy of her reports leaves much to be desired
since blizz has like. zero lore on nether dragons, here’s a terrifying amount of headcanons i use for my nether drake moira
disclaimer: they’re headcanons. im not. telling you you have to accept them. they’re only for my own rp purposes. so like. chill.
