hi! this is for the domesticity meme! c: what are your thoughts on akaashi and bokuto?
who cooks normally?: akaashi. he’s reliable, whereas bokuto in the kitchen is either a master or a disaster. there’s no in-between, and akaashi would rather be sure the kitchen isn’t going to go down in flames, so he does it himself.
how often do they fight?: serious fights are pretty rare, because akaashi can usually pick out big problems before they boil over so they can talk it out. there’s a lot of petty arguing, though, because akaashi’s sassy and bokuto tends to be easily offended.
what do they do when they’re away from each other?: akaashi gets some peace and quiet. he’ll turn off his phone and sit around, do a little TLC, read a book, enjoy the fact that he’s got some downtime. bokuto keeps himself busy—exercise, videogames, socializing.
nicknames for each other?:  akaashi refuses to let bokuto give him nicknames, and he doesn’t give them, either. bokuto drops the occasional endearment here or there (babe gets him a glare, sweetheart earns him a night on the couch), but none of them stick.
who is more likely to pay for dinner?: bokuto.
who steals the covers at night?:  akaashi. he runs cold, so he likes to bundle himself up as much as possible at night. bokuto, fortunately, runs hot, so he’s fine with akaashi taking the covers.
what would they get each other for gifts?: bokuto likes getting akaashi big flashy things, because damned if he doesn’t give akaashi the coolest gift he’s had in years, and he’s sure as hell not going to be shown up by anyone else who might want to give akaashi a present. akaashi, on the other hand, usually just gets bokuto what he’s mentioned wanting before. less of a hassle and guaranteed to keep him from pouting.
who remembers things?: akaashi remembers everything. bokuto remembers big things, like birthdays or anniversaries—even though half the time akaashi’s absolutely convinced he’s forgotten them.
who cusses more?: bokuto. akaashi’s the type to drop the occasional curse here or there under his breath when he’s ticked off, but bokuto just sort of slips it into casual everyday conversation.Â
what would they do if the other one was hurt?: akaashi’s mostly exasperated and a little tetchy when bokuto gets himself hurt, so he’ll help bokuto clean himself up, but he won’t go easy with the antiseptic spray, even though bokuto screeches about it hurting. bokuto likes to make a whole production out of it when akaashi gets hurt, because how often does he get to take care of akaashi instead of the other way around?
who made the first move?: bokuto. he courted the hell out of akaashi: gifts and flashy dates and, after a few months, a sweet and surprisingly sincere confession.
who kissed who first?: akaashi kissed bokuto first. bokuto had some whole huge event planned out and it was going to be Incredible and Perfect and Monumental and akaashi just up and kissed him one day while they were out shopping, easy as you please. bokuto had wavered between being upset (because akaashi had stolen his thunder) and elated (because he’d wanted to kiss akaashi for ages and he’d finally gotten to do it) for about a few days.
who started the relationship?: bokuto. he followed up his confession with what was, essentially, a proposal. akaashi had been both startled and completely unsurprised; he made some comment about how unnecessarily loud and extreme bokuto’s proposition was, said yes, and let bokuto crow about it to literally everyone they knew for the next few weeks.
The tumblr app doesn't allow hyperlinks, but now that I'm back with a full OS I can mention that the drivesuit scar/tattoo headcanon that I tag-ranted about on this post was in fact this fic and this fic, as pointed out to me by the helpful molalucy.
If you like Pacific Rim world-building, clickity click.
For the writing meme, please. :) Jin looks up, pops his welding visor up and returns a nod before going back to work. Cheung walks his bike to the loading dock, lashes a box of scrap to the back of it and takes off for the residential sector of the Old Kowloon. He pulls up next to a grocery store, an elderly granny puttering around inside it with a mop, and parks his ride by a stack of winter melons.
thank you for asking!!!! that spec. part was mostly to establish that they're constantly checking in with each other HAHA. like nonverbally, they'll let each other know 'yo i'm taking off'/'ok i know you won't be here' and also kind of a way to give each other a chance to uh, make requests or give each other reminders before they split. since their default is 'together', when one of them splits off it usually involves some anxiety on the part of the other two ah...also i headcanon that cheung had to take on the older brother role real seriously for their adolescence and while jin & hu could focus and specialize, he had to take a wider view and do things like take on odd jobs and scrounge and scrimp and probably bargain for every little scrap they can get. like the work that'll get him looked down on but fuck it, he needs to put food on the table, yknow?but in doing that, they also establish relationships with people in the neighborhood who see three little boys trying to scrape by, and who're always willing to jump into a chore or task to make some change so they kinda build a family from the community (hence why they're so willing to become pilots to protect it). also the bike's probably a beat-up old thing that he bought secondhand because the farther he can travel the more he can earn in a day, yo! my headcanon is that he upgrades to a motorbike when he's older and it's his first Big Purchase HAHAHA /woops derailed but yeah
hi there! i saw your tags on a hemlock grove gifset and was wondering if it was worth it to watch or not? :) thanks.
oh man, that is a weirdly hard question to answer. I mean, I like the show, but it is trash. schlocky, shock-value, southern gothic trash. its got triggers all over the place (idk if you're on the lookout for anything, but good to keep in mind), DEAD LADY-LOVING LADIES EVERYWHERE, and it kind of swings disjointedly between horror-gore and theatrical camp. on the plus side, Roman and Peter are gay as hell, and the Godfreys are a laugh a minute (imo Famke Janssen's theatricality is a plus, but not everyone agrees), but there are a LOT of unanswered questions in the end. though we are officially getting a second season in June, so perhaps that won't bother you as much as it did me. it was also based on a book and some of the stuff in the show DID NOT translate well, and you're often left kind of scratching your head? idk. if you're cool with 13 episodes of trashy southern gothic horror that you can watch while drunk, Hemlock Grove might be for you.
