Lydia found it absolutely impossible to resist the rising temptations to leave that night. Voices coaxed her into the woods, but overall she remained calm and collected until stumbling upon the corpse of a freshly slain man. Piercing scream echoed throughout the darkness until it reached its peak and shattered the night into a million pieces that covered her form like a blanket to shield her from whatever still lurked there. Unfortunate visions of loved ones danced inside chartreuse hues and caused the banshee to become frantic as she crouched down beside the man to make sure he wasn’t someone that she was familiar with, but as fate would have it one of the stems on her stiletto had seemingly gotten caught in the mud and just like that her ankle twisted with a snap. Balance was lost and she tumbled forward into the mucky earth with a loud thud.
Two small hands crashed into the wet soil when she attempted to cushion her fall, but when it squished between her fingers uncomfortably the sour look on her face was an instinctive reaction. Shifting back her dirtied hands came loose from the sludge as her eyes welled up with tears at the radiating pain that shot up her entire leg. Quickly the banshee focused on the crooked strap of her shoe to ignore all the fears settling down and building up inside the confines of her mind. Lydia’s nose was red and chilled as it began to drip a clear fluid, quivered breaths visible in the chilled air when she began to sniffle gently and wipe at it with the sleeve of her hoodie jacket. Sensing that something was off she hurriedly tried to stand to her feet but the pressure she put on the swelling joint made her shriek in pain. Hovering her left foot above the ground Lydia rubbed the hardening soil near the hem of her thin nightgown before reaching to grab her cellphone out from where she tucked it safely and securely into her bra to call Stiles and warn him of the remains.
“Can you pick me up? I found another body.”
