To Be Clear, I’m Not Shipping Mollyarty
I’m suggesting that Molly is the “real” Moriarty, or is in the Moriarty role (like the Dread Pirate Roberts is more a title than a name)
Mollyarty
I can’t stop thinking about this. I know there’s a strong argument for Mary being in league with/ actually being Moriarty all along, but I’ve been watching bits and parts of the whole series over again and I can see as strong a case for her as I do for Molly.
I have this half-hatched idea that Jim is really more the Moran character and Molly is the mastermind. Watch the scene with Jim from IT with this idea in mind. Watch how close Molly gets to Sherlock in Scandal in Belgravia; how he complains to her about John, how dismissive he is of her. She knows how close they are. She knows his suicide was a fake. It’d be a hell of a blindside.
And it kind of bears out in the construction of the Secret Society of Murderous Ladies in TAB. Molly is in, Moriarty is in; Mary is not.
I can still imagine Mary as a sniper at the pool; embedded by Mycroft in the lower ranks Moriarty’s network? Maybe? Under Mycroft’s protection because she ran from Moriarty after Reichenbach?
And there’s some foreshadowing of a plot twist like this in The Blind Banker, maybe. Sherlock is wrong a lot in TBB, and they are also blindsided by a female villain.
I don’t know. Somebody throw me a compelling counter-argument. I’m starting to want this. I’m starting to want to go diving for more to support this idea.
Jim gave Molly dress that she wore to a Christmas party.
