listen I do like the idea of majorscythe, I really do. but it's very important to both Scott and Pyro's characters that there is never even a chance of them forming a genuine connection in canon (which is what makes their fractured, toxic relationship so interesting!!!)
Scott Goldsmith doesn't really care about Pyro at all. he likes them best when they're following his orders or appealing to his ego - he tells Owen that he never told Pyro to call him sire, but "I mean, are you going to stop someone showing you respect? No. They just know to." Scott controls and manipulates Pyro because they're a useful asset to the Coven, not because he actually likes the guy. when Scott says that Avid's the first person who showed him genuine interest, Shelby points out that Pyro has, which Scott rebukes, because Pyro's not doing it out of love - he's doing it out of fear.
and he's technically right. Jack Von Pyroscythe is terrified of his sire. his reverence for Scott isn't out of infatuation, it's a fawn response. this is the man who drowned and killed and turned him, then left him to figure out vampirism by himself. the one who threatened to take him out of this world the second he stepped out of line and turned Shelby, then again when he tried to find the cure. Scott's claws are constantly on Pyro's neck, and if he has to lay on the praise and adoration to keep them from digging in, he will.
and yes, Pyro is jealous of Avid's relationship with Scott, but not because he's in love with his sire. Pyro's put all of his effort into embracing his newfound vampirism, trying to make the best of a terrible situation, desperate to gain Scott's approval and be seen as useful so that he's not expendable. part of this is out of fear, but it's also his best attempt to be appreciated, something he never was at home. and Pyro tries so hard. they show their sire the utmost respect, do everything he says without hesitation, and embrace every monstrous instinct in an attempt to cement their place in the Coven... and then Avid waltzes in and gets all of the attention and care that Pyro craved. Scott actually helps Avid get used to his vampirism, is gentle with him, is kind. he would have never done that for Pyro, his first fledgling in hundreds of years.
and so Pyro lashes out. he kills without mercy, exactly as he's been taught to do. and shortly before he's staked in revenge, he and Scott have one final conversation. this is the singular moment where there's some semblance of understanding between the two of them, as Scott says to Pyro:
"You actually remind me a lot of myself when I was younger. I see a lot of myself in you."
