Canon EOS 250D | 18mm | 1/400s | f/5.6 | ISO 200 Taken on 29/02/2020. Immersed in the Langa Astigiana among the gullies, ravines, gorges and fortresses, Mombaldone is the only village that is still surrounded by the original walls that haven't changed the housing structure since it was founded. Geographically, Mombaldone is in the Bormida di Spigno valley, but the area around it is rather similar to that of Denice, Montechiaro d'Acqui or Turpino – all located in the Alessandria province – than to the towns in the Asti province. Strolling through its only central street that forks off into alleys, passages, archivolts and courtyards, I felt as though I was taking a trip down memory lane. I suppose Mombaldone has that special, magical effect on any first-time or regular visitor. Who wouldn't want to live in an original stone house by a charming, historical square?
