I agree that a lot of the examples in the sj fails post are really terrible, but I think that if someone anonymously asked me to "prove rape culture" I might be angry/defensive and write a reply along the same lines as that person did.
yes, probably that example was the most critical one.
The question itself could really drive someone mad, because rape culture is so evident and perpetuated, especially in mainstream media - but the problem in the answer was not the ‘tone’, not the defensiveness or the fact that the person answering seemed (rightly!) annoyed. The problem imho was that the user wrote “i’m not going to teach some misogynist dude" implying that the question was purposely asked by a misogynist (male?). It was on anon, who knows, it could have been anyone…! Maybe some links to informative websites / users / etc could’ve been better to defend the cause. I think the ultimate concept this example was trying to convey was that misandry is not the answer, and not every male person in the world is necessarily a misogynist just because of the biological sex organs he was born with.
You’re right tho about the fact that this screenshot wasn’t even the worst
My given name is Aviva, which I (incorrectly) usually shorten to Eva.
Aviva was the name of a spring month in the jewish calendar, and by analogy it ended up meaning “springtime”, the new harvest, rebirth and life (Viva still means “alive” in Italian today).
Eva although has a totally different origin and means ‘mother’.
It's breaking tradition because the commencement speaker is always announced on rally day, btw!
Ah, thank you! That would be why I didn't know: I always avoided rally day, it wasn't my thing.
momoin ha risposto al tuo post :Can you post a photo of yourself? :D or just your hair...
dayummm
yes the last gif is actually my best angle
thank you so much for your reply about my dream this morning! I was in a really strange brainspace when I wrote to you, I was really horrified to have dreamed something like that. It really helped to have someone not involved in my personal life explain it to me. :)
messages like this bring me the most joy. i'm truly happy to hear that, golden. oh and remember that dreams that often seem scary, like the one you had, usually mean something good. it's the paradox of the dreamworld and, to be honest, i really love it. things that are terryfing and seem dreadful in the real world often indicate something positive in our dreams.
nonetheless, i hope nightmares won't trouble your soul too often, dear. and whenever you feel like you need to grasp the meaning of your dream, i'm here to help (:
sleep well tonight!
Last night I dreamed that everything I touched started bleeding. Like I would be walking around feeling fairly confident, but then I would pick a flower and it would bleed all over my hands, but I kept doing it, picking up new ones.
i must say it’s a quite disturbing dream, golden. i hope it didn’t ruin your day or made you feel worse.
um, let’s see. the blood itself means a lot of things, for example living or being aware of your own body and sexuality, it could also mean being scared of something or feeling like someone/something is stopping your from doing what you want. seing someone else’s blood may indicate that you worry - about a person or about the current events of your life. also, blood on your hands shows the signs of being guilty.
it’s written here that the fact that you are hurting things that you touch may mean that you are trying to forget about something that embarassed and/or hurt you without processing it first. like you try to escape from unpleasant memories and feelings whereas you should contemplate on them and think them through.
can you relate to any of this, golden? if not, perhaps you could tell me something more about the dream. for example, how did it make you feel that everything you touches started to bleed? think about what the dream book said about your dream, perhaps it will trigger something in your mind?
sleep well tonight, dear.
