MORNING REFLECTIONS💭
The only way to heal anything, sometimes, is to be exposed to it. Any form of abuse or violence, however, exposure will not help you to endure, but ultimately force you to adapt or learn to flee from situations (fight or flight response). Nonetheless, in healing trauma, sometimes you have to address it, kinda like the way you would in therapy. For example, if you had social anxiety, the only way to overcome, is to expose yourself more to social situations. Only, trauma healing is more private, a little uglier, and definitely more raw. But, once you face the ugly, address it, and love yourself through it, then it can turn into a positive, life changing experience.
For today, I have an exercise I'd like to share, to help address 1 or 2 or 3, of your shadows. You'll need your notebook and some bathroom time for this one.
Look at yourself in the mirror, start thinking back, and ask yourself:
"What are some of my "bathroom floor moments"? I'm talking about moments that made me almost hit the floor in tears, in pain, sick to my stomach, in grief? I could've just died from the sorrow I felt." NOTE: There's no need to dig into things already addressed and healed, but if you've mastered the pain, then it shouldn't bother you if it briefly comes back to mind.
Yeah. That's real. But like most people, I have tried to stuff down this type of pain or thought "oh, I've already dealt with that," and really, still crying every now and then, at the thought.
Now, you will want to hesitate and keep your own secrets...you'll want to act like "it ain't that bad, it's not even that serious"...DON'T.
Don't be afraid to acknowledge the pain is there, sticking out like a thorn in your side. Acknowledge that even thought you "got over it" and "it's nothing now", doesn't mean that, initially, whatever happened didn't cause you some pain or grief. Admit it. Write them down to yourself.
Now, look at what you wrote. Face the issue(s), talk to it, ask it 'why', come up with answers (try to under stand), come up with your own closure, fuhck it - why not? Now, say all the things you wanted to, curse it out, and then..... say you forgive and that you're not gonna bring this up anymore, but you're not going to forget it either, because you're going to learn from what happened.
You can try this again on another day, when you have time to get in your feels again. Do this until you truly start feeling the weight lifted off your heart❤
In my opinion : You will always know that you're healed, when you look back on it, exactly as it happened, and it doesn't make you cry anymore.
