This week’s playlist is all about the uber-talented, criminally underrated, and one of alternative rock’s queens, Tori Amos. Did you know that she has only ever won two awards and no Grammy in her career? What does that say about the music industry?
But at least, she has us, her fans. I’ve compiled some of her songs here, so I hope you enjoy them.

Incubus started in 1991 with four high school friends who just wanna make music in Calabasas, California. I wonder if any of them- Brandon Boyd, Mike Einziger, Jose Pasillas, Alex Katunich (replaced by Ben Kenney) and DJ Lyfe (replaced by DJ Kilmore)- thought that they would make it worldwide. Probably not, but I do not know much about the band’s history. All that mattered to me was their craft.
Aside from their funk and nu metal-influenced style, what really pulls me to the band is the nostalgia I get. “Drive” was the first alternative rock song that I really liked, and it was repeatedly played on the radio back then. It’s 2017 now, and although alternative rock’s relevance may have suffered, the boys are still on it. Listening to Incubus just feels like growing up with an old friend- both of you have changed over the course of time, yet the bond you’ve shared remains.
To summarize how I feel about the band in general, I am going to repost the following caption from my Instagram:
“March 13 (2015) marked the day that I’ve been waiting for. For the fourth time, Incubus, my all-time favorite band, visited Manila. It was my first concert ever, and while it was an electrifying show, it was also an item checked off my bucket list. If I were to watch any concert for once in my life, it would be theirs.”
I have compiled their slow melodic songs into a playlist, just to show you that Incubus isn’t only good when fast and loud, but also slow and tender.
P.S. The Jozef van Wissem playlist is also included because I forgot to share the link last time. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the songs I enjoy!
