What's a stupid definition of misogyny?
I'm guessing you meant 'monogamy', due to my last post. Not that there probably aren't also stupid definitions of misogyny, but I'm not discoursing on that right now or in the foreseeable future.
To me, when the characters seem to be treating monogamy as a hard rule of the universe they have to follow, no matter their feelings, it's a huge squick. Like love being treated like it's pie and it's finite and you can only give it to one person or it's not REALLY [romantic] love. It turns monogamy into a box with a lock. :(
For example: Sam preparing to jump in the cage and telling Dean to go to Lisa, and Dean treating that with a sort of outrage that he'd be cheating. Not "feel like cheating" but "would be cheating." The simple difference in connotation is like getting punched in the uvula.
Or when people write love triangles, etc., centering the ideal of monogamy and marriage like it's the obvious goal for everyone and that's the only way to "settle down" and everyone else has to pair off and/or go their separate ways. (Just had a flashback to the sisters moving out of the house on Charmed cuz Piper got married🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃 Also bad feelings about marriage storylines in Bones.)
Treating consensually open/poly relationships as cheating or not serious or in some way inferior and unfulfilling; treating it like they HAVE to "grow up" and choose.
And in a related subject: Treating virginity and only sleeping with your One True Love as the ultimate love story. Urk
