A long time before the anime aired I remember an official explanation being that they were given to him by his country for being so fucking amazing. Considering the ridiculous number of accolades he is implied to have racked up over the years I wouldn't be too surprised.
monomae said: Or so I remember. It was because of this explanation that I made sure to pause the OP during the first episode to check if the gold blades carried over, so at the very least I’m sure I didn’t make this explanation up.
That makes sense! I remember reading it somewhere too! I had forgotten about it but yes, seems likely.

Yeah, it's pretty entertaining to watch him on screen and he gets away w/more than he should by virtue of being hot af but this would be some creepy-ass shit in real life aha
I think there’s a bit of child-star syndrome there. After all, it seems like he did grow up being adored since teenage and getting his ways most of the time. He obviously knows he’s cute. He sort of act this way with his own coach too.
He probably just have the mindset of “I can do whatever I want and get away with it because I’m charming”, which is like... really dangerous...
Anyway I’m glad this anime is about figure skating and not serial killing...
Jokes aside.... The fact that he chose Yuri specifically, Yuri, who imitated his routine, shows a bit of narcissism (?). He got a good career going on, tons of fans, but he specifically want to coach this one guy who clearly worships him, and acts flirtatious towards the guy... Perhaps it’s the need for attention and feeling-in-power?
Well, he obviously have professional reasons too. The whole thing about wanting to surprise the audience.

D: That really sucks then, I'm sorry.
Yeah. Anyway, thank you for your comment ^^ And I’m sorry if I sounded a bit rude, it’s not your fault.
Daddy elmer would be the best lol
he seems like a good dad, but the kid ends up really twisted. The kid are happy and there are worse parents in the world. Having huey would only make everything so much.
