I love your monster deceit au and when you said Remus could be a fae I had an idea that it's a changeling situation. Maybe Roman's parents were supposed to trade their baby for a changeling as part of some deal with the fae but backed out at the last second? Possibly even killing the young fae's parents and dropping him off at the edge of the woods? Kinda dark but if the people in that town are all assholes who just let little kids run away to their death, I dont think they're above murder.

Thats v in spiriy of the town, i suppose. Also i just putting it out there i have a very loose understanding of fae so hhh. I do like this i do like this a lot!! But if i rsmble for i bit i have a couple half baked ideas

But im almost wondering if remus was a normal kid who got pushed away to the woods to meet whatever fate might befall him. I kinda had tbis half formed thought of remus being Old, technically. Maybe 180 years ago he went to dolian and then on to wherever else he wanted c he was free now, and he ended up in a fae forest. And the fae he met was remy! And remy' like "damn u been throigh some shit man that aint gonna ever happen to ypu again" and remus and remy chill in the forest and now remus doesnt age.

I like this thought bc on their grand adventure they might run into him abd dee recognises him immediately and it turns out hes basically a grear great great great great etc uncle of roman's.

Or! Remus is like a merman who dee meets on the Adventure and they bond over being half scaled sgdjsbcjdjd

Or like u said bc i do like that. Maybe remus became the guardian of the forest surrounding dee's mountain. Maybe he sends lost kids dee's way a couple times. Maybe he helps quietly. Mayve theyve never met. Remus was raised by an unforgivigly strict couple and they punished him for beibg different and never told him he wasnt human but he figured it out and just legged it eventually. Mayve he was there when dee was cursed. Hhh ill have to think about it
