Fancy Euro Monster
I got a chance to try the Import Monster. This was a version of OG Monster made specifically for the European market brought to the US in a resealable, slightly larger can.
At first glance, the can looks pretty similar to a standard OG Monster can, but there are a few differences. Firstly, the can is slightly larger, clocking in at about 550 mL, as opposed to the standard Monster can of 473 mL. That's 18.6 fl oz for the Import, and 16 fl oz for those who speak Americana. The design features a mythical bird[I'm assuming some sort of eagle] behind a shield and a ribbon that says "IMPORT." It looks like if Monster had their own coat of arms. The most stand out feature of this can is its resealable nature. Apparently, you're supposed to gently spin a piece of plastic to open and close the can, but in my confusion, I ended up pulling on the mechanism and breaking it, spraying Monster everywhere. Don't do that. It was also covered by a sticker, and said sticker went onto my "new" iMac Roxy. Neat idea, I just wish there was some sort of explanation on how to open the can, as resealable cans are a rarity in the states.
The blurb reads as follows: "While in Europe at the Spanish MotoGP, we saw a cool resealable can and knew it would be perfect for Monster. The can company said 'only available in Europe.' We said B.S., we gotta have it! Next stop, the Netherlands at specialty plant to fill the funky can with our new super premium Monster Import formula. Monster Import has a clean, smooth Euro-flavor, a little less sweet, but still gets you off as good as the original. If you can open and close the can with one hand you probably dated a lot when you were younger."
The taste is far less sweet and far smoother than American OG Monster. Monster has always had a "bite" to it, if that makes sense. This one takes away that bite, and is easier to drink than any other flavour out there. Even the ones claimed to be "easy drinking." 8.5/10 best variation of OG Monster.
