So more Judith, but this time for Month of Fear’s prompt “Monsters Within.” Trying to get back on the wagon after work set me back a bit. I got so many days off this week so maybe I can start the next one after my shift tomorrow.

Much quieter than the work-heavy InkTober challenge, possibly because of the longer time allotted to work on the individual subjects, was the Month of Fear art challenge hosted by Kristina Carroll. The themes this year were "Monsters", with the suffixes Above, Below, Within, Without, and Unseen. My entries were part digital, part traditional (I wish I had managed all of them to be traditional, but there are only so many hours in the day, and drying times are murder).

Month of Fear - Monsters Within

For the third theme of the challenge, I thought of inner demons and how to get rid of them. Sometimes there is this rare moment, when you realize how unneccessary and hindering your thoughts or feelings are, and simply cast them aside; like pulling a sweater over your head and casting it aside. And below that irrationality is pure, clean thought.

I started worrying about the rough edges of the piece halfway through, these grotesques are usually done in pencil and I know why; but using a waterbrush fixed that problem easily enough (although wet charcoal then presents other problems).

OMG. So I'm awkward. But I saw your selfie on my dash and was like "He looks like a guy from a show I must watch" cause you're face is so familiar! But then it just HIT ME! You're in the improv group I watch at BGSU and I was right! What a tiny world :o

To those of you that dont know, I'm in an improv group at BGSU called the Plastic Shatners. I've been approached a couple times on campus about people recognizing me from it, but this is the first time ever online. Its a good feeling.
