Movie Review: Ghosted
I know this movie isn't getting great reviews, but I'd like to ask those people, what they were looking for? Because this is a great buddy half romcom / half action movie with a particularly ridiculous ending action sequence where the rotating restaurant turns into a gravitron ride.
But I am a huge fan of Chris Evans 💜 - - and that does help in my enjoyment of the movie. Like a lot. And he was so adorably awkward in not being good at fighting.
The overall plot was decent, nothing original with the agent, is she / isn't she on the up and up. There wasn't enough time to dig more into why Cole didn't want to travel or leave the farm. It was just mentioned and they rolled with it but of course I want to know the why of the whole thing. I think a little more depth to both of their characters would have been welcomed.
There were some awesome cameos by Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, John Cho and Ryan Reynolds. I loved the action sequence in the bus because Sadie was throwing Cole from place to place and it was so funny to watch a six foot man be pushed around. The plane action scene was fun because Cole got into it a little more but the final one in the restaurant? Why did they design the rotating restaurant to go faster? Like, who thought that was a good idea? The room got so fast thing started traveling up the wall. And anyone that has ever gone on the ride "Gravitron" - which can be found at the boardwalk or county fairs, knows what it feels like.
Again, what designers thought that was what the restaurant would need? I mean, it made a cool action sequence, but it's just really implausible.
But I don't watch most action movies for realism.
Tate Donovan's facial hair is challenging the Amish And Ana de Armas's wig is so so bad. Like. Who thought that was a good idea? I thought it was used in the beginning because she wasn't on duty. But nope. She kept it throughout the movie, complete with those really annoying fly away pieces. And then to have her real hair at the very very end? Just really points out the wig for the rest of the movie.
Overall I really enjoyed it, a lot of fun. If you just want some entertainment with a solid cast, fun cameos, romcom banter and fun action stuff - this is a good movie for you.
