For those that didn't want to risk the dangers of living on a gas rig (or those who owned the rigs) the closest moon in the Howler Subsystem provided easy access to the gaseous world. A cold, high pressure moon covered in rocky hills and large sulfur lakes, abundant sea life provided a secondary industry for a moon that came to be known for its luxurious settlements. System and even clusterwide companies such as 3CEC and the Feigner Union had offices and facilities in the sprawling pressure domes that covered Howler Prime. When the gas boom ended, the rig owners stuck around to pursue other ventures, and the moon is almost as lively as it was back in the 20s. Howler Prime is one of the only moons in the system with its own intact atmosphere.

This airless moon is the farthest inhabited body from the Monteno star in it's system. A frozen hunk of silicate orbiting an FTL beacon planet, this moon hosts the infamous Rots Gate Secure Containment Facility, a maximum security prison that takes dangerous inmates from all over the sector. It specializes in biologically enhanced inmates, and many chemical breakthroughs were made at this site using the altered bodies of prisoners as test subjects. An investigation in 1956 disproved claims of the kidnapping of innocent civilians for human experimentation/sale of impoverished contract workers who were to sick to work, but many still look at Rots Gate as a symbol of government overreach and dangerous meddling.

This cold wasteland supports no permanent habitation. An empty rock of ice and suffering at the far edge of a prosperous system, many people forget that Rots even exists. It's services are crucial, however, as the facilities built on its surface allow FTL signals to pass through the system. Other than the occasional maintenance crew, no life can be found on this barren world, save for the ancient bones of subglacial organisms dug from the underground glaciers that crawl across the planet.

This frozen world is covered in vast, unrelenting hurricanes and deep rivers of liquid nitrogen. While its harsh climate has prevented large scale habitation so far, this planet is a favorite hideout of pirates, smugglers, and other ne'er-do-wells. Abandoned colonies have been turned into bases for massive criminal enterprises that extend across the system. The ones that were able to survive the hurricanes became vast empires, with entire planets in some systems falling to their rule. The VAF maintains a presence in the orbit of this planet, but they can do little to stop the illegal technology of the crime bosses. Summon Bostic, the largest criminal faction on the planet, has branches and members across the cluster, and the leaders have massive prices on their heads. Travel to and from Woltor is strictly prohibited, and any civilian vessel that strays to close will be taken in for questioning.

This airless moon is a prison/working colony, focusing mainly on weapons manufacturing. Moderate crimes often carry a sentence to this colony, and prisoners rarely stay for more than ten years. On the legal side, companies often pay for transit of impoverished folk from Howler Prime and Ostellan to Tennadae with the promise of a job in the manufacturing business. Many take this oppurtunity to start a new life away from the troubles of their homeworld, and a small but vibrant community has sprung up in the small towns surrounding the factories.

This moon was named for the hundreds of black diamond mines scattered across its surface. Operated by 3CEC, these mines take on the appearance of a massive endless black pit when viewed from the surface. There is little civilian infrastructure on this planet as it is mostly inhabited by shift workers who live there for a few months at a time. Black diamonds are a rare and expensive luxury jewel, and they are used in tools and decorations alike. The majority of black diamonds in the core come from the mines on this moon. There are no documented native life forms, but common are the tales of large subterranean beasts that roam the dense caves near the core, looking for unfortunate miners who strayed to deep.

While the majority of the gas making up this planet is hydrogen, trace amounts of a powerful and valuable chemical called locking gas were found by SGH around 1917. They rushed to set up gas rigs, along side other gas companies of the age, and quickly founded several boom towns hovering above the atmosphere. However, nearly all the rigs were abandoned by the mid 1920s, as enormous buoyant nitrogen breathing life forms led to this planet's reputation as a mass graveyard, as well as its name. Despite the dangers, several mobile rigs still operate, although the planet is a husk of what it once was in its heyday.

Elthoriel is the beating heart of the Monteno system. A cold world, this bright purple globe is covered with large red and yellow landmasses that give it its signature look. The seas aren't just your typical seas, however. Almost half of their chemical composition is ethylene, with the other half being volatile ethane. While this means there isn't much life in the hydrosphere of this planet, the pressure has created large reserves of precious ethyl oil across the sea floor. The extraction of this oil has led the Elthorian economy to massive heights, and the vibrant cities across the surface of the planet are built upon the sale of this oil. This world is the capital of the Monteno System, and the most populated world that orbits the Monteno star.
