Escape or Die
His bed shaking was what caused the augment to wake up, the sound of fighting was what got him out of bed and looking out his glass door. Lights were flashing down the corridor as guards seemed to be running back and forth. Another tremble of the building had him frowning.
Given that the entire building was under several hundred feet of water, the fact it was shaking so frequently was quite unsettling. Blasters could be heard going off several corridors over, and the inmates he was surrounded by were getting more and more riled up with every passing second.
Then with a hiss, the door to his cell slid open. He stepped back from it, as the screams and shouts from his fellow prisoners could be heard swarming into the hallway. Men and women started to scramble past his doorway, no one seeming to know which way was the right way to go, but everyone positive their way the right one, and no one else would get in their way. He could wait though, he was a patient man after all.
Patience had won him many battles in the past, but it had been the wrong move this time. Before he knew it a Klingon was looming in his doorway, and every muscle in his body went tense as he watched the alien.
“Khan Noonien Singh, you are to come with me.”
Ah... so they'd finally found him and were ready to bring him in for judgment. As unpleasant as his judgment with Starfleet was, at least he was still breathing. He had a feeling that would not be the case were he to go with the fine man in front of him. “Not likely.” He replied and watched as the Klingon snorted, the only warning Khan got before he lunged at the augment.
Khan quickly stepped to one side as the Klingon charged and just missed getting rammed into the wall. He brought his hand down in a swift motion, colliding with the Klingon's temple, getting a satisfying snap as the head was thrust to one side.
The Klingon hissed but the attack seemed to do little to actually slow him down, and he made a quick jab towards Khan's neck.
The augment was just as quick to dodge this one as he had the last though, and was dancing out of the Klingon's way. By this point he'd gotten the door behind him and decided to try and run through it. He did not have the time or truly the energy to fight this man right then, and who knew how quickly backup would be behind him.
A shot zipped past his head as he ran down the corridor, and the next shot caught him in the shoulder, but he merely gritted his teeth and pushed on. The door was in his sights, if he could push through then he could close and lock it, trapping the Klingon on the other side. A simple plan that would only buy him minutes, but right now minutes were all that mattered.
He reached the door and shoved his way through it, slamming it closed behind him and quickly locking it. The door rattled with the impact of the soldier colliding into it. He took a breath but was quickly jogging away, leaving the cursing Klingon locked behind the door. Some how they had figured out where he was, and the Klingon's had come to retrieve the killer of their people.
That had been over Thirty-eight hours ago.
Khan's breathing was labored as he squeezed himself into a crevice. He shut his eyes as he tried to slow his breathing down. Foot steps passed by his hiding place, and he didn't move until they had faded away. It felt he had been playing a lethal game of hide and go seek with the Klingon army that had invaded the planet, even the inmates had gotten in on the game. As far as he could tell, all star fleet personnel had either been slaughtered or evacuated to a safe zone. The inmates of course had been left to their doom.
He pulled himself out of his hiding spot, and stumbled into a puddle of water and cursed under his breath as he noticed his high up his leg it went. Where it had only splashed against the bottom of his shoes twelve hour ago, it was now lapping at the tops of his ankles. A slow leak, but a leak nonetheless. If they weren't able to find and fix it, then he wouldn't have to worry about being shot to death, he'd simply drown from the water that was creeping into the building.
He shook his head, as if trying to fling the thought from his mind and headed away from the direction the footsteps had gone. He needed to find that bloody ship. He had found the presence of the ship quite by accident, as had he found the code. He had been looking for a way to delete himself from the system, realizing life as an escaped convict would be much simpler if he was able to get off their files officially.
But that had lead him to the finding out about the ship. Somewhere in this building was a ship he could use to get off this planet. Star fleet hadn't been entirely stupid when building this place under water. They'd given thought to a way to escape should the place start to flood. They had built an entire dock full of ships for just an occasion in fact. But most of them were either damaged by the building shaking from the attacks, or had been used by the staff to evacuate. Leaving not but one ship to escape. But a ship that, as far as Khan knew, he was the only person who knew the passcode to get it started. Of course, surprise surprise, Star fleet didn't want that kind of information just lounging around for anyone to find.
Thus his current predicament. He had no idea where he was supposed to go in order to use the information he'd found out, and was under a constant threat of being shot, stabbed, or drowned. “Lovely.” He sighed, his voice gravely from lack of use. He pushed on down the corridor though and stepped into the next sector. He stopped short as he heard the sound of footsteps at the other end coming towards him, but by the sound of it, there weren't that many. And quite frankly he was tired of hiding. So he readied himself for a fight and silently headed towards the footsteps, trying to keep his own as quiet as possible. Who ever was around the corner was about to draw their last breath if he had anything to say about it.
