Behold, my cherished townsfolk, the hour doth strike when the goddess shall draw back the veil from tales too rich for virgin eyes to bear! And what doth this swift month promise more than a bloom of love so pure and tender? Of fair maidens whose cheeks, like roses kissed by summer's blush, glow and burn beneath the bedsheets with hearts most wickedly inclined! The goddess thus shall here present each word she penned and each volume her mind was fed!

You can tell I'm done school when the amount of books I read each month skyrockets 😂 I also have a new quilt background for taking book pics because my aunt gave me this gorgeous quilt when I moved 🥺 My favourite book this month was Project Hail Mary! (grievances with the author aside, it was very enjoyable to read, and some friends and I formed a lil book club to read it so that also elevated the experience 💗)
Thanks for being here, I'm already excited about what I'm going to read this month! 📚 As always, mini reviews below!
🌟 5 star books:
Seven Days (Alex Lake) - Reread from almost a decade ago 😶 I forgot just how fucked up the premise of the book was. It has the same elements of Emma Donoghue's Room (young woman kidnapped and held captive for several years during which she gives birth), but the motivation for the kidnapping, the events of the escape, and the storytelling are completely different. The pacing of Seven Days is well-done, and really dials it up to 11 for the conclusion. If you love thrillers that leave you a little disgusted upon reading it, I'd recommend this.
What Art Does (Brian Eno and Bette A.) - (Rounded up from 4.5) A delightful read on the importance of art! If you like thinking, exploring, and playing, you'd enjoy reading this. Full review here.
The Giver (Lois Lowry) - Believe it or not, this was my first time reading this and wow.... I can definitely see how this would leave an impact on someone reading it around 11-12 years old. I wish I had read it when I was younger to see how my perspective and understanding of the book's message would changed as I got older. I'd recommend this for everyone. It really makes you appreciate all the choices we have in life, and even though we have pain, we also have pure, unrelenting joy.
Project Hail Mary (Andy Weir) - The first book club book! I will have a fuller review of it once our group discusses it together this weekend, but I will say I loved it. The science was sound, the pacing and occurrence of plot events worked for me, and I the ending made me teary-eyed in the best way. It read like a comedy for the most part, but there definitely were moments of "this could be a horror" that helped keep the story grounded. I'm planning on seeing the movie soon, I hope it doesn't water down the aspects of learning to communicate with Rocky.
⭐ 4 star books:
The Duke & I (Julia Quinn) - I decided to read Bridgerton and it's fun! I've always loved Regency/Victorian/Edwardian era books and movies, so that was my main draw to this. I'm holding off on watching the show until I've read all the books because I've heard it's quite different. The fake dating to real love pining was done well here.
The Viscount Who Loved (Julia Quinn) - The second Bridgerton novel. It was interesting to see more into Anthony's mind after how he acted in the first book. I don't know anyone personally who has such a specific hang-up around their mortality, but part of fiction is suspension of reality. The only thing I didn't really enjoy was the circumstances surround the engagement. I'm hoping the third book will break the trend that seems to be starting.
✨ 3 star books:
A River of Golden Bones (A. K. Mulford) - Fantastic representation of genderfluid and other GNC characters, but everything else was kind of a flop :/ If you love romantasy tropes, you'd probably enjoy this, I just thought there were too many weighing it down. Full review here.
Buck and Eddie were definitely the favourite this month with a whopping 2344 votes. Far behind them in second place are Stiles and Derek from Teen Wolf with 1236 votes (and exactly 2000 total votes!)
Here they're about to kiss or something.
We've also seen a massive ratio for Raine/Eda from The owl house. This poll got 76% "ship it!" votes and only 1% don't ship.
Our hidden gem this month is awarded to Alfred Hillinghead and Henry Ash from Bodies. Their ratio isn't crazy, but there is still a good ratio of 13% ship it votes compared to 1,6% don't ship it. 83% don't know them, so maybe it's a series worth checking out.
Now the worst ship of the month is Natasha Romanoff and Bruce Banner, who had a 57% ratio of "don't ship". Only 12% voted that they ship it. Maybe it's best they stay away from each other.
Thank you for participating this mon-uhh 2 months ago. June summary coming soon!!!!!!!
Wow, it has been a month. It started with a scene and ended with an epiphany. Much of the progress has come of the last week, ever since I woke up from bed and was like 'oh my god, I've it figured out.'
In all, this month's word count for it was 5,296, split across the first three chapters and a scene of backstory to appear later.
New characters were introduced, in the form of the meshaika (priests with magic) and the two acolytes (one's more important than the other 👀).
Cheyoria's uncle has also reappeared! He didn't feature in the 2021 draft but he had a small handful of scenes before then, including one where he opens the door, the crow lady is there, it doesn't end well for him. In this draft, that scene has gone full circle.
Now, I will leave you the blurb and some links to excerpts and things I've done over the course of the month.
— The Blurb
Helinda's Treaty started with the Allaitri Chalice, a prized relic capable of healing all spells and ailments.
Alycja entered the temple to complete her Morja Durzjet, a ceremony for all young Seldaikan teens to confirm their maturity and competence in magic. But after some hushed whispers and a decision in the spur of the moment, she finds herself with the Allaitri Chalice in hand, the relic missing for thousands of years.
Conspiracies come to the forefront of the zeitgeist, as Alycja must now contend with her religion's society trying to condemn and slander her at every turn. For every moment she holds the Chalice, there stand others who seek the relic, leaving her to decide who can be trusted in these twisted games.

Well, fuck. I had this all typed out and somehow it went away! grrr... Try again...
I feel like I'm singing the same song as last month, scale stopped moving the last week or so of the month. So frustrating.
Goals I had for this month were:
Continue 16:8 intermittent fasting ✅ Some days longer, some shorter, but overall got this done.
Continue 7x a week workout, at least 30 minutes each. ❌ I fell off this wagon when I got food poisoning, broke my 80 day streak of working out, but I've been doing 5x a week. Going to try and get back to 7x a week though, at least 1/2 hr.
On 3 days a week, add in an additional workout to the day, to bring the time up to 1 hour. ❌ Didn't even try. Where has my motivation gone?
Continue Hip Opening challenge; restart it when it is done. Take progress pictures. ❌ Gave up on this for now. It was hurting my psoas muscle SO MUCH. I did see an LMT who did an amazing/surprising job of helping that. It's not 100% yet, but will see him again and then try this hip opening yoga again.
Evaluate ability to go back to walking on the beach after Dr. appointment March 7th ✅ I did evaluate, and no go. After wasting a month with freezing this plantar wart and that having ZERO EFFECT, he finally put acid on it. That had an effect! Huge, painful blister. I am HOPING this will actually kill that damn thing finally. I go back to dr next week.
Keep tracking food; keep carbs and calories within goals ✅ Except for one day on a family visit where i ate everything that was served, I have kept carbs and calories within goals. I also didn't fall into a sugar-binge after having that one day of indulgence, which is a pretty huge win.
TAXES!!! ✅❌ Well, I didn't actually get the taxes done, but I got everything READY to do them, so I'll have them done by the 15th, likely sooner. Counting it as a win.
Remember this is about HEALTH not just weight. Keep your blood sugar in check! ✅ I don't have a blood sugar monitor ... should I get one? IDK, I don't really want to stick one of those things on my arm, tbh. But I feel like the low/healthy carbs I'm eating are keeping it in check.
Don't give up. ✅ Have not given up.
Other things I did that weren't on the list:
Got Mammogram and Dexa bone scan. Still waiting on results. I am afraid the bone scan is going to show osteoporosis, in which case I need to get more serious about weight bearing exercise and strength training.
March 31st graphs:
What to do for April:
Seriously, get your taxes filed.
Continue 16:8 fasting and low carb eating.
If scale doesn't move, lower net carbs more (?)
7 days a week workout, minimum 1/2 hr a day.
Go back to walking when toe allows.
See LMT about hip/Psoas issue. Try hip opening challenge again when feasible.
Schedule colonoscopy.
Remember this is about HEALTH not just weight. Keep your blood sugar in check!
