I'm so here for your opinion on Draco. I feel like fandom has made him into this soft gay boy who has never done anything wrong and is only looked down on because of his family... they've forgotten that he actually was a massive dick. He definitely canonically was a pureblood supremacist, he did fully bully Ron, Neville and Hermione. And while he had potential to change, over the course of the series, he never did. Seeing him shipped with Harry and ESPECIALLY Hermione is so annoying.

Yep. I don’t get the woobification of him at ALL.

Like, he’s such an interesting character as he is! For someone to write out REAL redemption, and NOT use the characters as fodder for his character growth, is awesome!

My rant about Drarry:

I don’t mind there being random ships like Drarry existing- like there’s all sorts of crazy shipping out there- so if Drarry was just a oneoff thing I’d never think about it. 

But it has SATURATED fandom. It’s ev.er.y.where. I never seek it out, yet it’s on my feed daily? :P I just... Draco is such a toxic person- he doesn’t deserve that sort of attention, and Harry? God, Harry is such a great person- he has ENOUGH therapy he needs to go through. We don’t need “walking Draco through how to be a good person” on his plate as well. 

That’s my main beef- SO much of the shipping I see is mainly just lust- OR it’s everyone having to teach Draco how to human- AND THOSE PEOPLE ARE THE ONES HE MISTREATED AND NEARLY KILLED? I especially hate how they’ll have Harry basically go ‘you have to get along with Draco because I LOVE him,’ and then everyone is forced to interact with their abuser without Draco doing any work whatsoever NOT to be a dick? 

To me it’s like seeing those white boys who commited terrible crimes get off with a slap on the wrist. Like... No. You need to do the work. Your victims owe you nothing.and forgiveness is something you have to struggle to earn- not something you’re owed.

But people like to skip over that and just get straight into ‘cute sexy bois’- which fine- I’m not saying every fic or comic needs to have a discertation on how to grow and change as a person- I just am one of those people that likes a fully developed world and characters staying in character.

For Drarry to be ‘in character’ would take a lot of work- most of it from Draco’s side.
