WIP Wednesday

Just wanted to let the MoonDark shippers that I am working on a fic as promised! (Saw someone use that ship name for Mitch/Cody so I'm running with it.)

Hoping to get the first chapter out later this week, but here's a little snippet in the meantime:

Zaeth glanced up at him, surreptitiously spilling some of his drink on the floor before pretending to take swig. There was a mischievous glint in his eye as he offered a suggestion. "Why don't you invite your werewolf buddy out on patrol? I'm sure he'd love to watch your back." "You mean Cody?" Mitch blushed, wondering why the idea hadn't occurred to him. "That's actually not a bad idea." "Listen to your prince," Zaeth told him, putting on a regal air. "When have I ever steered you wrong?" Several examples came to mind, but Darkness Man politely abstained from recounting that long list of disasters. When he remained stubbornly silent, Zaeth gave him an exasperated look. "Text him."

Three sentences of Moondark!

Shade nudged me. You’ve got this. I looked over at Aurun, scowling. “I don’t believe you,” I told him. I take that back, you definitely don’t got this.

Since I can get snippets of S&L and the Interludes all the time (heck yeah the perks of being your friend) I wanna ask about Moondark!

:D it's about Alli and Rin, mostly Alli's quest to find and save Rin after she's kidnapped by [spoilers] for reasons of [spoilers]

snippet! This is from near the beginning, just a bit of sibling characterization~

“...Alli.” I became dimly aware of Elyh touching my shoulder. “Alli, Uncle Tir is calling, it’s time for you to go.” “...Oh.” I shook my head to shake off the momentary fog and let him help me up. “Thanks.” “Of course.” He opened the door carefully, with a last look back at the candle. “Want me to…?” I held up a hand and made a snapping motion. “No.” He shook his head. “Let it burn out… don’t… Watch your step!” His arm snapped out, stopping me several feet before the small platform we were on ended in a drop of around three hundred feet. I looked at it, then at him, and slowly raised an eyebrow. “Elyh.” His arm dropped and he stepped back. “Well… I just wanted to make sure,” he mumbled.

tell me about moondark?

Moondark! story about Alli, a teenage half-vampire half-elf wizard (who is, fully by accident, a walking ace flag. also ace but that was on purpose) trying to find her kidnapped qpp, fairy Rin. Plot kicks off with Rin flying over a lake, a hand reaches up and yanks her down, and Alli immediately panics and goes after her. It's a portal to another world and also Rin is solidly gone.

I left off writing around the time Alli gets her wings, but I do intend to go back to it

(Alli definitely started life as something of a mary sue, my 14/15yo self's much cooler self-insert, look, she's got purple eyes and she's not interested in romance because AUGH WHY ARE ALL THE YA GIRLS GOOEY OVER BOYS and she has a unicorn and she's an elf princess but also half vampire and she's an awesome archer like Merida and!!! anyways some of those things still hold true but I think I did it better this time lol)

Also it's called Moondark bc the two types of fae are sunlight and moondark. Alli's half of each, and aside from looking like her dad, she's more elf than vampire- no wings, fangs, night vision, etc. however she is still distinctly half moondark fae, not just half sunlight

hi!! I'm gonna answer for two characters who know they're aspec and two who don't, from two different eras

Alli (arospec ace) and Rin (acespec aro), QPPs: Yes, partnering. with each other specifically

Vida (somewhere on at least one a-spec due to trauma, doesn't know): partnering. she's been in love twice and had her heart broken once. she is also a bit of a romantic

Kyria (aroace, also doesn't know): nonpartnering. She's a princess and knows there's a chance she'll have to get married because her brother is very gay, but she would really much prefer not to. the possibility of marriage is one she tries to pretend isn't there most of the time; she doesn't even want to marry a friend. this is very much a No Thank You idea
