I truly do believe that when I die, if I go long before my mate, I’ll be reincarnated as his dog. Not much would be all that different, because he isn’t like me, so he’ll stay my master and I’ll stay his pup. I may come back and forget nearly everything, but I will know him and I will know that he’ll need me, and I’ll know where to find him, and that I love him— and I’d like to think he’d know it’s me, too. I like to imagine he’d be able to see into my eyes and know, and that he’d feel it in his heart. So even while he’s grieving me, the human me, I’d still be there by his side, helping him through it, just in a different form. I’d always be there with him.

tHERE LIVED A CERTAIN MAN IN RUSSIA LONG AGO
HE WAS BIG AND STRONG, IN HIS EYES A FLAMING GLOW
I don't know much (or really anything) about Joel, but here you go. Cuddling in the early early morning hours before the sun even bothers to come up. It's soft and warm underneath the covers and suddenly it's a realization that life should always be that way with him. The kind of comfort that only mornings induced by sleepy kisses and soft touches can bring. Moving wakes him up and it's now a different type of warmth that brings him to life.
HOPEFULLY it sounds like Joel.
Yess 🥺 The calmness and security of Jackson allowing the two of you to enjoy moments like that. Being so used to waking up early that even when you both have a day off you’re awake before the sun rises.
Admiring the outline of his face in the darkness of the room, noticing that he is also awake and watching. Understanding you both are able to have some sort of peace now. No more smuggling and fighting to survive the day.
The soft kisses he places on your cheeks and lips, rolling you on your back. His touch is gentle in the privacy of your home and he can’t get enough of it. Kissing everywhere he’s able to, taking in every bit of you. Some mornings he will make love to you, others the two of you simply enjoy the presence of one another.
Early mornings are when you see the softer side of Joel, and take the time to appreciate it before having to continue with your day.
i just saw moonlight again tonight and had a few thoughts
rewatching it was such a....not relaxing experience exactly, but this time i felt so much less tense. i didn’t know a whole lot abt the movie then.
i remember being scared almost the entire time that it would be violent and tragic. it was violent and tragic at points, it faces chiron’s struggles with frankness. but that whole experience of seeing it for the first time was relieving. moonlight is a story of kindness and intimacy and honesty.
i was esp struck this time by how......the third section isn’t as much about the violence and harm imposed upon chiron but about him being in a place of being able to choose. he’s healing and navigating the world by virtue of others who had hurt him deeply showing him kindness and genuine remorse. i remember when i first watched it being so afraid that his mother was still abusive and then later, kevin and chiron would lash out at each other and hurt each other and that chiron would bury himself deeper into his loneliness. but the conflict is minimal.
now upon a second viewing, the diner scene isn’t as anxiety-charged, instead it feels like chiron’s come home.
every single frame or clip i see from moonlight looks like an art piece i GOTTA see this movie
i was gonna see it when i went home for break but i messed up when it was leaving theaters :(
