Curious? I'm a major tag reader and I saw you mention "still think Sam is unraveling" do you care to expand on that? If not I completely understand though 😊
No problem, though bear in mind I don’t usually think too much beyond the current episode because anytime I do try to guess where we’re heading, I’m always wrong.
In terms of Sam’s experiences from the cage, I don’t believe he has ever properly dealt with his trauma. I think he locked it up in a Pandora’s box in his mind and tries not to think about it. On the surface, he’s empathetic to those around him, but when it comes to his own feelings, he’s usually got them locked up pretty tight, with only a very rare outburst of what he’s actually feeling - like 13.04.
His strategy of avoiding only works as long as he’s not faced directly with having to think about his time in the cage. With Dean being intent on locking himself inside a cage with an archangel for eternity, that has opened the box. And while Dean can only imagine that he’s setting himself up for the worst horror imaginable (even with his own hell experience), Sam doesn’t need to imagine. He’s lived it, and not just with one archangel, which would be bad enough, Sam had two. Two bored archangels with only Adam and Sam for entertainment.
I just see little glimpses of Sam’s walls crumbling throughout the season, culminating in that mini breakdown and uncharacteristic punch in 14.12. And my tag on that post where Dean says he’s fine with who he is, and who Sam is, Sam’s face is not showing agreement - he’s fine with being a hunter and living with his brother - but he’s not fine about something, so I think there’s more to come, and if we finally get Sam unraveled and talking about his trauma, I will be a happy camper.
Sorry I don’t have time to do your question justice and point out specific instances, but there are much better people than me, that would be able to give you a detailed breakdown by episode - like ThisPost recently talked about Damaged Goods, not being about either Nick or Dean, but actually about Sam
