They also had a go at Guy Norman Bee amongst several others. I’m looking at reddit threads to try to find it again and it’s grim reading. Why these aggressive, hateful bullies were ever pandered to is beyond me and because SPN didn’t deal with them properly (due to M), they are out there continuing to ruin shows to force their latest m/m fetish. I can't seem to find the tweets with a quick search, but for anybody that wants to keep digging, it was Jerry Wanek. Tweeting about the episode, he said there was something 'hidden' in the set design for Naomi's office and the hellers started screaming about bi flag colors - which made him clarify that wasn't it, they had hidden a pattern of crosses. He further clarified that the lighting was meant to convey passage of time, not sexuality.

And yeah, that color palette is not exclusively linked to the bi flag, ffs. Even if it was, it's Naomi's office, and as pointed out elsewhere, what actually broke Castiel's mind controlled state was touching the angel tablet.

The frustrating thing about hellers (ONE of the many) is how they sexualize the most mundane and normal interactions between men and then scream at you for being too obtuse to notice the sexual tension. They really talk as if they've never interacted with another person before in their lives, let alone had a close friend - and then claim that's proof the ship is real. It’s provably shown to be the exact opposite in canon. Dean with Castiel is like Gordon Ramsey on Hell’s Kitchen. With Sam he’s Gordon Ramsey on junior Masterchef. In addition, Cass is only still alive because Sam has said multiple times when Dean was pissed off at Castiel, “It’s Cass” (complete with puppy eyes). Dean folds like a cheap suit.

Dean is more authoritative of Sam - e.g. not wanting Sam to do something unless he knows it’s safe - because of how much he loves Sam and knows he can’t live without him. He goes absolutely nuts if even so much as a door comes between them. Meanwhile, Castiel is expendable in defence of Sam.

‪Just taking one of these “writers”, Meghan F was assistant to Dabb who went in there with a specific heller agenda that was shot down by the showrunners. They wrote 13 episodes of ANY show since 2011 to date. They were so bad, they were only given 2 scripts to write, and had to be assigned another writer to be heavily handheld and they still turned out ooc and terrible. The one with Sam and Cass was rumoured to originally have been written Destiel, but was told to change it to Sastiel. The other one was the boys as kids and it’s very clear this “writer” lived their twitter post “watch the first three seasons as background” as those kids were neither Sam nor Dean. Taking just one of the others, they were insanely proud of not having watched a single episode before they started writing - which was absolutely fucking clear in the dross they churned out, These… these disrespectful fucks are who I should be listening to over Kripke, Gamble, Carver, Dabb and the only one that was there all the way through, Singer? Bffr. Get fucked.

Look, no one is denying there was serious unprofessionalism from extreme Hellers which included some of the late season writers. It was a combination of hellers deliberately trying to get into positions where they tried (and failed) to “exert influence” over the show (Meghan) but also that the others thought they were genuinely just interacting with people that knew it was fanon.

And let’s be completely honest, the show turned unrecognisable in these late seasons compared to Kripke’s vision and that was 100% down to the poor quality of writers, which I’m guessing was a budgeting issue as it ran across the entire CW shows that used to be good. Like these bad writers weren’t just on SPN. The author of the book Ship It was another “writer” (then showrunner I believe) on Riverdale, which also turned to complete shit. The book is a revenge fantasy against Jensen. Like… unprofessional af.

One of the (many) reasons I call Dabb a weak showrunner is that he wasn’t reining them in online - that problem of writers being unprofessional and interacting with fans outside the official studio stance btw has now been mostly resolved.

So no, sorry, not listening to what a single one of those hacks said or did outside the control of the writing room. Where are most of these “great writers” now? Kripke and Gamble who I would argue are the best showrunners have had significant post show success. The others… not so much. And the funniest thing in all of this for me is you all know to call out JKR for saying characters were lgbtq+ after the fact, but you love these writers that… did exactly the same thing. They gave you nothing inside the canon of the show but indulged your fetish freely outside. Yeah, you’re really here for the lgbtq+ community, no other agenda at all.

Friendly reminder that Jensen was just the actor, not a writer or the showrunner. The actual writers of the show have confirmed and shown the exact opposite: yes, Dean did reciprocate.

There are multiple deliberate parallels between Dean and Cas and other couples on the show, which clearly confirm that their relationship was written romantically.

In the final season, the writers repeatedly used Sam and Eileen’s romantic relationship as a mirror for Dean and Cas’s. One example: when Eileen tells Sam she doesn’t know what’s real anymore because of Chuck, Sam kisses her and says “I know that was real.” This directly mirrors the scene earlier in the season where Dean tells Cas that nothing in their lives is real because of Chuck, and Cas replies, “You asked what about all of this is real? We are.”

Another clear parallel: Sam loses Eileen and Dean loses Cas literally in the same episode, 15x18. In fact, the entire episode where Castiel confesses was built around characters losing their love interests, starting with Charlie losing Stevie, specifically to set up and mirror Dean losing Cas at the end. The writers genuinely could not have made it any clearer.

On top of that, they introduced Adam and Serafina — a human and an angel who were deeply in love — literally one episode before Castiel’s confession. That was obviously not accidental. It was clear foreshadowing and an extremely direct parallel to Dean and Castiel. Everyone knows the biblical Adam and Eve story, but Supernatural deliberately changed the narrative specifically to mirror Dean and Cas — a human and an angel, just like Adam and Serafina.

They did the exact same thing with Cain. They didn’t even cast an actor to play Abel. Instead, they created an entirely new character, Colette, Cain’s great love, specifically so she could mirror Castiel in Dean’s life. Cain literally tells Dean, “You’re living my life in reverse,” and says that Dean will kill Cas first and then Sam. Since Cain killed his brother first and then his love interest, Dean living the story in reverse means Cas is his Colette (the love interest) and Sam is his Abel (the brother). That was extremely explicit. That is not subtext — that is text.

And finally, in episode 15x19, right after Cas’s confession and death, Lucifer impersonates Cas in order to manipulate Dean into letting him in. That is the ultimate confirmation that Dean reciprocated. The show had already established Lucifer’s consistent method: he always impersonates the person’s dead love interest in order to manipulate them into letting him in. He did it with Nick by impersonating his dead wife Sarah, with Sam by impersonating Jessica, his dead girlfriend, and with Vince Vicente by impersonating Jen, his dead lover. And he did it with Dean by impersonating Cas.

Therefore, Castiel is canonically Dean’s love interest. Destiel is canon. You cannot argue against these canon facts.

Yes Dean loves Sam same way Cain loves Abel and loves Cas same way he loves Collete, literally the script you posted show's that, Dean couldn't reciprocate because he wa stunned and confused, no where is it stated he doesn't reciprocate.

Lol He’s not irrelevant because he played a huge part in crafting Dean in bringing him to life, and literally lived and breathed Dean Winchester for over 15 years.

Cass was never Collette, Dean barely tolerated him most of the time and I don’t think he ever once stopped for Cass, in the entirety of the series, except maybe if Cass threatened harm to him. If anyone was a Colette parallel it was Sam and Dean actually took back control of the mark and stopped when Sam called out to him to stop.

If Dean’s lack of reciprocation was purely due to being stunned it would have said “didn’t” or at least would have left it at “too stunned to respond” not “couldn’t” as “couldn’t” in this instance means “not capable”. The way it was worded is truly damming because: “could have, but didn’t because too stunned to say anything in that moment” vs “couldn’t, because sexuality not compatible” regardless of time constraints.

No, Sam and Dean offered to kill each other to get Chuck to bring EVERYONE including Cass back, with no indication that Dean had any intention to live on regardless of which scenario Chuck chose. Also, the only reason that Cass was specifically mentioned is because he wasn’t disappeared by Chuck like everyone else on earth, he was slurped away by the empty, so if they left it at “bring back everyone you disappeared” Chuck definitely wouldn’t have bothered with Cass, and as it was their friend, they had to at least ask.

Those quotes are proof because Dean meant them with his whole heart, and proved it too, as by Dean’s actions, certainly no individual person or being was ever more important to him than Sam.

The first time in purgatory he had no reason to think that Sam was in danger, so of course he was’t going to just abandon his friend without even trying. The second time however, when Dean knew for a fact that Sam was in danger from Chuck, he was literally going to abandon Cass in purgatory to run to Sam, and the only reason Cass made it out that time was because he got himself out of the mess he was in and back to Dean before Dean hopped out of the portal. Also, when he said that to Sam over Charlie, he had the Mark of Cain, was grieving Charlie and was being petty and hurtful over that, but not serious, as he’s never even considered sacrificing Sam for anyone, and would trade literally anyone for Sam (and has).

Even if he cared for others Cas was always the main objective shown by the emphasis in the sentence, Cas is literally Dean's everything after all as stated by him in 13x01.

It's not even the first time Dean doesn't even care for Sam when it comes to Cas' safety, Purgatory both times, he basically didn't acre about him, in the trap especially Sam was being tortured by God and all Dean cared about was Cas , falling on his knees and begging for forgiveness (even though it was Cas who wronged him Dean didn't care Cas was vital to him). Getting Cas back from Lucifer too, Sam whining like a cry baby about how dangerous it is and Dean doesn't even care he only cares about Cas. He knows if the plan bacn tracked they would have all being killed but getting the love of his life back was what's most important not Sam.

As for Dean's reciprocation, I mean he was the one obviously in love even if he didn't know Cas felt the same and the script made it clear ,the script literally made it clear, Dean was never excepting it he was stunned and confused whe it happened,and despite that he literally told Cas not to do this,to not sacrifice himself so only he can live ,he preferred to die with him than live without him Cas had to push him away, and Dean even after doing everything to get him back he failed and chose death over a life without him,he literally begged to be dead than live with Sam or anyone that isn't Castiel after all Cas was his everything.

No writer ever confirmed that, Dean has never called Cass that, nor said that about him. Genuinely, the only one Dean has actually said he can’t live without is Sam “I couldn’t live with you dead” and has demonstrated by being willing to do anything to get Sam back EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. SAM. DIED. Which is why Sam was his everything. For Cass, at most he asked for him to be brought back, but offered nothing for Cass and only Cass, because with Chuck at the end of s15 that was for everyone on earth, because Chuck poofed them away, and they threw in Cass because he was their friend and wasn’t automatically included, necessitating a specific mention to be included, because he was slurped away by the empty, not poofed away by Chuck.

He was taking a moment to say something to Cass before he left because he didn’t want to leave things with his friend on a bad note, since he was then going to get up leave purgatory and abandon Cass to run to Sam. If Dean really loved and needed Cass like that, he wouldn’t have been ready to and telling Cass that he was going to leave him in purgatory to run to Sam’s aid. Dean didn’t kill himself, his death was an accident and he only told Sam no deals or extreme measures because as Dean literally said to Sam, he was tired of running around in apocalyptic circles because deals come with consequences, but if Sam could have saved Dean without such consequences then Dean would have accepted it. Dean just didn’t see a way out without such consequences.

nice rant but none of this is true. If Deam cared for Sam more than Cas he would he wouldn't have offered him as a sacrifice, if he wanted to live without Cas he would be begging to die without him. No matter what lies Dean tells Sam Dean always puts Cas first. No matter how much in trouble Sam was or wasn't in Purgatory Dean's only focus was always Cas. Even out of Purgatory let's be fir real he could care any less about Sam's safety just for the possibility of getting Cas back from Lucifer, he only suicded for Sam in red meat bc Cas wasn't there and that pushed him over the edge, next episode he is indifferent about his safety.

Dean never offered Sam for sacrifice? WTF are you talking about? We’re just making things up now. Dean never once put Cas first especially over Sam unless you somehow have these characters confused. I have no idea how anyone comes to this line of thinking. This is just stupid and painfully wrong. You’re the one toting fanfiction of a character barely in a third of the show that didn’t even earn any focus in its finale.

The heller is talking about when Dean offered to kill Sam (and himself btw) to bring back everyone Chuck had disappeared, including the birds… oh and Cass.
