I tried overwatch voice chat with randos for the first time and,,, im not sure how to react when I’m being told I’m playing shitty and It’s True. that person also avoided me as a teammate :(
We’ve all been in the position where we’re having an off game or an off day or whatever and knowing you’re having an off game and not contributing enough is bad enough in itself, people should realize that and stop trying to make it harder for the person just because it’s easier for them to put all the blame on a single person
One thing to do in this case is to switch to another hero of the same role if you can play it or ask to switch roles with someone else, sometimes it’s the hero/role that’s not quite working
The best way to deal with those kind of people is to mute them and continue focusing on what you can do in the game, it’s not fun to hear people being assholey but other than reporting them for abusive chat and muting there’s not much to do, unfrotunately voice chat in overwatch can be quite abusive at times
Another thing is to queue with a friend or two, it’s easier to ignore/stand up to the assholes when you’re not alone, and in some cases you and the person you’re queueing with might be able to switch heroes/roles with each other to better fit your skills in that particular match
I hope it goes better next time, not joining voice chat is a tempting thing to do but in comp especially voice is so important and I’ve personally met some great people through joining voice, but if you feel it has a negative effect on yourself your mental health comes first, just remember that muting people who are being dicks is a great way to ignore them and focus on the game
