1. Are you a religious witch? Which religion?
No, though there are a few deities I’m curious about or that call to me (Artemis, Brighid, Thor, plus a handful of other Norse and Greek gods). Unfortunately they’re from different pantheons, and I’m told mixing pantheons is something one shouldn’t do.
2. What is your preferred herb?
I don’t really use herbs (yet), so I don’t know.
3. What is your preferred gem?
You-… You’re seriously asking me to pick a favorite? Do you know how I feel about “cool rocks”? I could maybe give you a top 20 of gems/minerals/crystals, but not just one.
4. Do you do divination? Which kind?
I’m working on learning tarot and runes.
5. Favorite Tarot card?
N/A (I don’t know enough about tarot yet to pick)
6. To Curse or not to Curse?
To curse. I haven’t personally done so, and I don’t always personally approve of cursing without serious cause, but I support witches having the option to curse when they feel it’s necessary, if they so desire, without others imposing personal opinions on the matter.
7. Do you have a familiar?
No
8. Favorite candle color?
Boring ol’ white. I don’t use different colors because I want to make my own instead of buying them, but I’m lazy and haven’t gotten around to it.
9. Favorite rune?
N/A (I don’t know enough about runes yet to pick)
10. Do you celebrate the solstices, full moons, etc?
I’ve celebrated solstices, but not recently (I want to get back into the habit), but I ALWAYS forget when a full moon is going to happen, and miss them. Whenever I remember, it’s always extremely cloudy, and I think “Next time”, then either forget or have clouds again. I’m sorry, I’m so bad about this.
11. Do you wear a pentacle?
I used to as a teen l until I was chewed out by a girl I knew for “trying to be a witch without being properly initiated by an established Wiccan coven”, so I stopped wearing it. Long story, but that’s the tl;dr.
12. Do you have a broom?
No
13. Do you have a pendulum?
Yes, a makeshift one.
14. Do you have an athame?
No
15. How often do you meditate?
Rarely, unless you count spell-meditation.
16. Do you do yoga?
No, but I’m thinking of taking it up.
17. Whats your favorite herbal tea?
Peppermint, and ginger (if that counts).
18. Do you support manipulation magic?
(I assume this is referring to the manipulation of people?) I’m on the fence about its use in specific contexts (like protection), but generally No.
19. How many altars do you have?
None currently, because I took it apart to redo it. I’m going to make a little pocket tin one to have until I redo a full sized one.
20. Do you do magic outside often?
Not often, no. I’m a shut-in and vampire (I have a sun allergy and insomnia, not literally a vamp) so I tend to stay in and do tech witchcraft and sigil work most often.
21. Can you read palms, or tea leaves?
No. I try to avoid palm reading because of personal negative associations in my mind from palm readers I knew years ago. For tea leaves: I tend to only buy matcha and bag-teas, so no loose leaves to read.
22. Would you ever open your own metaphysics shop?
If I had witchy friends living near me to open one with, sure!
23. Is your third eye open?
I don’t really believe in that per se (based on what little I know about it), but if you generally mean, “Are you able to sense/see things beyond the physical realm with a different sight from that of your eyes”, then Yes.
24. Do you like Astrology? What’s your sign?
It’s interesting for sure! Aquarius sun, Taurus moon, Scorpio rising. (I don’t go more in-depth than those three)
25. Favorite flower? Or Tree?
Mm… I like jasmine, ajisai (Edit: Googled to find out the English name - Hydrangea), roses, and lilies. For trees… I don’t know the name/species, but those trees with black/purple/burgundy leaves and grey/black bark. They’re some kind of plum or maple, I think? I love them. And I like aspens.
26. Do you have an animal guide?
No
27. Whats your favorite kind of magic?
Storm Magic, but I don’t personally do it because I live in sunny, seasonless Southern California, haha (though I’ve unintentionally summoned storms/rain plenty of times). Following at a close second are Sea Magic and Sigil Magic, which I do practice.
28. What time do you feel most like a witch?
When my sigils work instantly, or when I feel the power of nature and The Universe (my term for a certain nature energy) all around me and in me. Also when I wear my wide-brimmed hats in strong sunlight to protect myself (again, sun allergy), because then, with my all-black wardrobe, I look as outwardly witchy as I feel.
29. Are you out of the broom closet?
Nope. Other than two long-distance friends, and my followers on this side-blog, no one knows I’m a witch. More people know I’m gay than know I’m a witch, so I pretty much live in a multi-use closet. Come visit me, I have tea and snacks!
30. Are you a hereditary witch? Or self discovered?
Self-discovered, but I could be hereditary for all I know. (Adoption and not having a second parent tend to obfuscate familial histories, so I could be descended from a line of witches? We may never know.)
31. Are you in a coven? Or solitary?
Solitary.
32. Do you want to be in a coven? How big?
Sure, if we were like-minded, all generally eclectic witches, and all about the same level of experience as each other, to prevent it becoming a hierarchy and keep it as a group of equals. Small, preferably, like no more than 10 max, maybe?
33. When did you become a witch?
Mm, that’s a tricky question. If you mean, “When did you start using magic (consciously or not) and being in touch with the spirit world, or feeling a draw to witchcraft?”, then my answer is: As a very young child. If you mean, “When did you start practicing a defined craft and doing things in an official manner with proper research and consistent methods?” then my answer is: …Like 2-3 years ago maybe? I started over a decade ago, but then the aforementioned “you can’t be a witch unless you’re initiated in a Wiccan coven” girl (and other people and books who told me the same thing) happened, so I stopped “officially” practicing for years until I took it up again more recently upon learning that, No, you do not have to be a Wiccan to be a witch.
34. Do you make your own spells?
Yes and no. Nothing with poetic chants and rituals (not yet), but sigils, yes, and meditated intent to make stuff happen, yes.
35. Do you make your own sigils?
Yup! I make all the sigils I personally use, though I do keep a collection of others’ public/shared sigils for inspiration and to see different techniques.
36. Why did you choose this path?
A combo of it choosing me, and me wanting to effect some change/control in my own life.
37. Whats your favorite element?
Water
38. Do you do any misc. magic? (Dragon, Sex, etc.)
No
39. Magic or things you will never do?
Love spells, spells that strip free will, spells requiring living sacrifices or people’s blood (no judgement for witches who do; it’s just not my thing, personally), “unbreakable” curses, “and your son’s son” curses, and anything involving demons or fae.
40. Strangest way a spell backfired?
I haven’t had any go wrong in necessarily strange ways, just results being too literal and unconstrained, like not using precise wording when making a wish. (Real ex: “I want thinner hair so I don’t keep breaking hair ties and so hairdressers stop complaining about how much hair I have” = drastic, upsetting hair loss to the point of having 1/5 of what I used to have.)
