Peter Pettigrew and Remus Lupin are as good friends as James Potter and Sirius Black, YES, and you can't change that.

They're both theater kids, they like chess, tea, old grandpa clothes, and lots of food. They got together so they wouldn't drown alone in the sea of platonic love between Sirius and James, and ended up truly finding a best friend and brother in each other.

They understand each other with just a look, both have that sarcasm and direct advice that the other needs. They are both excellent students. Remus is the only one who truly understands Peter's insecurities, envy, anger, and resentment, and Peter also knows everything about Remus.
