"... Wait," Chat said. ".... What is your weapon?" he asked, realizing for the first time that he hadn't seen any on her - aside the self-made tools she used occasionally.
"... I'll show you tonight," Luna answered.
As darkness fell over the land, Chat and Luna quietly came out of the thin-lined wooded area and into the meadow, a heard of red deer grazing on the other end.
Luna focused all of her attention on them, slowly walking up to a clearing that granted her a direct view of the closest individual in the tall grass.
He wondered what she was going to do now; the deer was still too far away for any sort of attack. However, the wolf-girl kept her sight glued to it with an intensity of a predator that picked its prey.
"Don't make a sound," she whispered to Chat, "and watch closely..."
A moment before she did anything, the thought of her telling him that deer was one of the last things that should be hunted because of their size passed through his head. She told him it was too dangerous. So why was she targetting one now?...
And then Luna straightened up completely, enough to be seen by the heard. However, her posture lost its tension.
Then she raised up her right arm and straightened it above her head. Bright white light came out of her claws and expanded onto her hand as she seemed to draw an arc in the very air as it came down.
The deer looked up and curiously gazed upon the foreign illumination.
As her right arm was finishing the long arc in front of her, Luna brought her left one and gripped the white light at its center. At the same time, her Miraculous started to shine brightly, and her now free right hand passed in front of it, getting an additional illumination; then she settled it near her jawline, while a straight line suddenly darted from her curling fingers to connect with a clear bow, making almost a comet-looking arrow with a sharp tip.
The heard started to scatter in fear.
Luna took one more moment of focus - then she let the arrow fly.
The hind that was at the back of the heard, which was picked as a target, got hit in her rear and immediately stopped its jumping and started to slow down. However, the deer did not falter and, with steady footsteps, came to a calm stop.
Chat had no idea what just happened. Luna slowly started to make her way throught the grass towards the hind and he quickly followed.
As they approached it, he noticed that it went back to normally grazing, while the shinning arrow portruded from its side. There wasn't a single other deer in sight. It was so bizarre.
".... What... just... happened??..." he asked, flabbergasted.
"... A Moon Arrow," Luna said, coming up to the female, "fired from a Moonbow." She put a hand over her back as if to pet her, and the big hind reacted as there was nothing beside her in the first place. "It does not hurt them. It's more of a... transcendental weapon than a material one."
Chat just looked from the hind back to Luna, gaping in confusion. "Yeah but what does it do?"
The wolf-girl looked at the animal. "It... gives insight. To... who you are, what is your place in the world... and to why you're doing what you're doing. In the deer's case - she ran because she was afraid we're a threat. Fear is a natural response - it's not a reaction to what things really are but to what they can be. A Moonstrike helps you better see things around you, and respond to them in a realistic manner. In this case - we posed no threat to her life. That's why she's back to normally grazing..."
She took a sharp step to the side and grabbed the arrow, signaling Chat to back up himself, then she tugged at it and swiftly removed it. The hind showed no signs of physical pain, but she immediately rose her head, looked at them in fear, then jumped away with a kick that made Luna move even further away. She ran straight into the forest and disappeared in the thicket.
"... Okay, but - how is that a weapon?" the cat-boy asked impatiently. "All it did was paralyze her. It can't harm anyone. How would you use it in a battle?"
Luna slowly turned to him. "That insight it gives can be a powerful weapon. It works differently on animals than it does on humans."
Since he didn't seem to get it, she continued: "If you fire it at a hungry bear attacking you, it's not going to stop it. The bear needs to eat. If you're an easy meal and it's starving, it's not going to stop it. But if a human attacks you - it's going to do the same it did to that dear; it's going to stop it and have it think why it's attacking you. If they have a good reason to do it - like you posing a threat and the offense is the only defense, then it won't stop them. But if the reasons are murky... then it's going to offer the person an insight to what made them do it; if attacking you is going to solve their actual life problems that lead to that action."
It took a few moments, but it finally landed. "Ohhhhh!... I get it." Chat said.

And here comes the part I tell you I feel so relieved that stuff in the canon changed drastically, because this single weapon could've been Hawkmoth's easy downfall if he ever got hit.
And not just that - this would render absolutely any of his Akumatized villains powerless and would give them an easy chance to break free from their spell.
But since I'm probably going to go down the AU road and go back to Shadowmoth's era... I will still have to work out some kinks and make this not as overpowering as it seems.
BUT ANYWAY!
I'm so glad I finally got this out of my system! You have no idea how long I've been fangirling over this idea and how WELL it fit the whole thing; also, this is one of the reasons I kept Luna's name, because the Moon's symbolism is pretty much the power of this weapon.
Again - no idea what Zag or anyone related to canon ML is going to use for the Wolf Miraculous, but I doubt it's gonna be anything like this.
BUT!
Let me fangirl with you now, OK?
Moonbows are an actual thing - they're pretty much night rainbows. Also, there may not be any actual Moon Arrows (although they are popular as symbols) but moonlight is pretty much symbolically treated the way I portrayed this weapon's power. All of it was used for inspiration, especially because I didn't know which weapon to give to Luna, but for whatever reason - a bow was my first thought.
I still dislike the idea of a wolf using a bow - simply because they get up and personal in battle, with their teeth - but that's why I left the fact that Luna is a pro at Aikido and uses Judo only when things get really dire. (Have you seen Judo? It honest to good truth looks like grabbing someone like a wild animal and subduing them the way a predator does - so that works really well with her.)
Barkmane: Ah, dear? Who are they?
Moonstrike: Our new children.
Barkmane: Oh okay

William Russell in anthology WWII series Moonstrike - The Biggest Bandit (1963).
Only three episodes exist of this series (and they seem to be hard to find) but thankfully Russ' isn't lost.
He plays Phillipe and is part of the French resistance.
