oh my God I got so many things so so many things running in my mind right now I feel like I'm losing it okay long incoming rant here just words of a crazy person

First off I have been gloriously fed this week. My daily dosage of Epictale content has been filled just by your words alone. thank you oh my God absolute Peak.The descriptive writing is just chef's kiss, the characterization? Beautiful mwah mwah mwah, and the direction it's hinting at???

I'm so EXCITED :DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

So many questions to, like why is mettaton working with gester so early in comparison to canon in which he only worked with epic? Was it because he wanted to see if ghost and their unique property could expand his research? Or was it because he wanted an extra set of hands that wasn’t a yes man to everything he said like his “devoted” (more like preprogrammed) followers, or maybe he wanted someone with doctor expertise to help out with the experimentations done on sans/papyrus and is just passively threatening mettaton to say anything about the experiments. The outburst he did to mettaton has me believing that. I also wouldn’t put it past Gester to say this is for the betterment of monsterkind and that epic/packs aren’t real people, so mettaton and his fam shouldn’t care for their mistreatment, manipulating them into such thoughts

So in spirit of this I decided to reread the entire epictale comic, 500+ pages in all and I honestly found some interesting things which I have formed theories to explain things that haven’t been delved into.

So we know that Gester is completely aware of the prior timeline. Of course he is considering he created the ENTIRE FREAKING TIMELINE. But as a result we were introduced to people who didn’t exist beforehand, like Mad Mew Mew (+ Laura) and genuinely speaking, I wonder if there's a connection between the two of them.

So I know in your fic, one of the major points is that my glorious king mettaton is getting way more screen time, but also this is an alternate timeline with different actions and circumstances occurring a little bit earlier than they do in Canon. For example- mettaton working under Gester, despite in Canon when Frisk fell and came in with the steel chair, absolutely obliterating him- mettaton hadn’t gained his physical robot body and was still a ghost. This was shown in one of his flashbacks he had when meeting Gester after he took over Frisk's body. It’s also stated that Alphys and Sans were the ones who were to create his body.

(now that I think about it I wonder if his body in your fic looks actually different than his canon counterpart because obviously it had to be Gester who created it since alphys is nowhere to be seen and Sans is like 13 and still being experimented on so he's not touching any power tools unless he’s getting them used on himself.)

But back on point, my question is how the heck is Mew Mew so powerful in Epictale canon? Like she’s able to see glimpses of the future and is also aware of the multiverse and it’s many au’s such as XTale. How is this possible?

With all the info I have, I'm beginning to wonder if Mad ghost isn't exactly all powerful but rather the body she inhibits is.

And that’s thanks to Gester.

My theory is that gaster during his early days, most likely after moopy’s death and the banishment of monsterkind, he began experimenting with coding trying to create tools that could be infused with certain properties so he could enact his big bad plan on humanity (and you know, also break the barrier but that's not important). The reason why i believe this takes place after the war is because Gester/Moopy’s plan of genocide would have had to have fallen flat and Gester seeing how he really loved her must’ve have been super DESPERATE in trying to reach his goal now that he had lost someone.

I also find it pathetic that at this point of time Gester, despite creating a problem himself (humanity’s beef with monsterkind) in the newer timeline, he began projecting all his frustration on it to the point where it genuinely ticked him off. Like he didn’t have to make humanity evil since that caused so many problems in the former timeline. It’s the equivalent of you having a dream of your friend doing something so stupid that when you wake up you're mad at them for what they did in your dream despite it not being real. Bro got so mad at the racism he created, that he became a racist himself.

What a loser.

Moving on, the experiments happening after the war also explains WHY he has a freaking life sized mew mew model lying around. Since epictale is very similar in culture to our world, it's fair to say that in epictale, shows from nearly 100 years ago don’t stay in style and considering alphy’s is a mew mew stan to this very day, Gester getting that model (probably finding it the same way canon alphys, did aka the dump) closer to when alphys was around rather than the when moopy was around makes sense.

Plus, Gester getting into anime doesn’t seem too far of a stretch when thinking how much epic loves it and how he’s modeled after Gester. I mean both him and Gester are jokesters (albeit it's more of a mask for epic), but Packs likes bananas and epic likes cookies and guess what? Gester’s favorite food is banana cookies so there's a part of me that genuinely believes that there's a Gester does like anime just not as much as epic/alphys and it's something that Epic was more fond of as a result.

So after getting the mew mew model, he somehow managed to infuse it with coding but believed it to be a total failure and disposed of it… Only for the Mad ghost to come across it in the dump and haunt it.

Perhaps the abilities within the model weren’t available from the start, but then one day BOOM, mew mew gains a whole BUNCH of knowledge within a short period of time, coupling that with her being thousands of years old… well it doesn't do the greatest to her psyche and perception of others, but by then Gester is gone and the only people who could explain what's going on is Epic and she doesn't trust him enough to seek help, seeing that he and Gester are connected to all this.

She can’t go to her cousins either since they're now employed by or connected to epic and are busy with their lives, so instead she just does her own thing- Exploring her newfound abilities and chatting with muffet.

I don't know- this is just a theory but it explains why she has so many broken abilities (plus the sadistic part of her personality), and her being a ghost helps as she isn’t fully tethered to the body that holds these properties, or maybe it’s concentrated mainly in her weapon so maybe that’s why she isn’t weighed down or feeling kickback like epic does when using the eye Gester created? Or maybe those piece’s of Gester weren’t fully implemented in the coding of the doll so that’s why she’s exempt from them?

Either way, her uncanny ability to not only see the future but also know about the whole timeline being screwed with has to be connected to Gester and his stupid shenanigans. I mean, she even has the gift of teleportation and regeneration/healing, something that she and epic share but the latter she can only give to others, and with the former she can create portals and uses them to move around the underground and heal chara all the way back to full health.

Maybe I'm just missing something… I understand that there are parts of epictale that are somewhat comedic but like- (pardon my French) what the hell dawg? What do you mean you could have healed Chara and given them back their missing limb, but decided against it because you thought them being an amputee was cool??

Being an amputee is extremely debilitating, especially when it's something like your freaking arm/hand which has multiple purposes. As far as we know, mew mew has no clue how this battle against Gester is going to end so as far as she knows she just kept Chara as an amputee for life just for the lolz which is just- DUDE!?!?! And that's not even considering the fact that they're in the middle of a FREAKING war right now and having both limbs gives them a MAJOR advantage compared to one. Chara nearly died a few moments ago and you think it’s a good idea to further endanger their life by having them keep that disability (and that's not even covering the psychological scars an injury like that would carry) because you think it's sick?

And we're just going to gloss over that like it didn't happen?

I understand from a meta standpoint (the readers pov) that Battle Scars and missing limbs make a character’s design cool, but I think it’s important to remember this is an in-universe in Story character saying this to another character who just lost their limb that “even though I have the ability to bring back your arm because I’m not because I think it looks cool.”

okay yeah Mew Mew you need to go into the bin for that. also your show sucks.

The only plausible reason I can think of as to why Chara isn’t trying to choke her right now or actually addressing it is because they're in shock from losing their arm and coming back from near death. Because if I was them and in the right state of mind? Mew mew healing me be damned, she’s going to have to find a new body after i’m done with her.

also Fox is the best boy. Period.

Also also, is that freaking core frisk???????????? like hello is anyone going to talk about that????? okay it might just be a look-alike or something but I don't even know what's going on here anymore

So yeah, that’s how mew mew has all those crazy abilities. But what about Gester? He’s suffered failure after failure, meeting dead end after dead end with no win in sight. So what if, after all resources have been exhausted, Gester comes up with the idea of creating living beings made from his own coding?

This idea also gives him the excuse to create sans and papyrus. He creates Sans first knowing that he was a major annoyance player in the timeline prior, but then.. he begins projecting onto him just like he did with humanity and starts viewing epic as his New idea, and stops associating Sans with the og epic/timeline but rather his newfound end goal. This makes it easier for him to start dehumanizing his now children and remove any feeling he had for them in the 1st timeline that saw them in a positive light and as people. It allowed him to hurt them without feeling any remorse because they in his mind aren’t tied to the memories of the last timeline. They're something new, and they aren’t people. They are tools to be used and exploited. And thus the tragedy of the epictale bros unfold’s, much to my and many others horror.

And yeah that’s about it

My last point is less of a theory and more like a speculation or a question. So we know Gester is the reason for the new timeline that we have, but the question is- if he's so powerful, why does he struggle so much? I understand that he's putting on a show and he knows there is no fun if there's no challenge to overcome (heh rhyme), but there are times where he truly seems to be ticked off at his own failing. As if he can't solve a problem and is reacting to it with unfiltered emotions.

I have no answer to this. I mean, looking at reference, there's Xgaster who’s in a similar boat being a creator/programming the lives of everyone around him, but he’s on Aizen timing and only fails to see the plans Xchara and Xfrisk are cooking up thanks to his ego being as big as his forehead. But even then he was has other plans and back ups, like cross winning the title of the fastest genocide speedrun ever, or the mysterious XII.

**Taking a short detour for a moment

Xgaster’s ability to see into the future despite them only being glimpses of what to come has never been explained within canon. As we know in the X-tale series, Xgaster began having strange visions of the future, and those visions kinda caused him to go into the deep end if you get what I mean. But the explanation as to HOW he’s able to do this is just never expanded on. My best hypothesis as to why is because he’s a creator and he knows his creations so well, he’s able to subconsciously predict what they're going to do. He knows everything about everyone, save for Xchara and Xfrisk, but even then he was able to somewhat predict what they were going to do when taking into account their rebellions. So that's why he only sees tiny moments of the future rather than in full.

And maybe Gester has that ability as well considering he created the new timeline, but managed to transfer it to mew mew’s body? Or maybe his studies have created connections to the void/antivoid which is also connected to the doodlesphere and the multiverse scripts, so thats how mew mew is able to see what to come concerning not only epictale’s cast, but also Xtale. Or maybe their universes are positioned right near each other in the doodlesphere so that's why she can only see their future and not others.

When discussing Epic Gaster and his heinous ideas, it doesn't seem that he’s setting himself up to fail 100% of the time. We know He knows that he’s going to lose in the grand scheme of things, but if so (unintentional rhyming)- why does he look so upset when a plan he has completely fails? Like when he attempts to take over Toriel's mind only for her to come back and pound him into the dirt.

He outright states that he wasn’t expecting that (also can we take a moment to admire how fluid and dynamic these poses are? Like i'm frothing at the mouth rn now this is SO COOL)-

Or the fight with mettaton where he gets so sick and tired of being a punching bag he cheats to win the fight

Do you see what I'm getting at? Why fail when you know you can win? There’s a part of me that wonders if it’s just his ego that causes him to underestimate others, but I don't think that’s 100% it. He hadn’t been around to see Mettaton's sick abilities in the making, but he knew of Toriel's parents and had to have at least an idea of how much of a powerhouse she was going to be growing up. Not only that, but HE CREATED THE ENTIRE TIMELINE AND I DON’T THINK WE CAN BLAME HIM POSSIBLY FORGETTING ON MEMORY ISSUES.
