If it weren’t for the ramshackle remains of what seem to be dens, Buzzardfur wouldn’t believe a living cat had ever set foot in the clearing. As he takes a few tentative pawsteps in, an inexplicable sense of … something presses onto him, not quite dread but certainly not comfort. He’s never seen something like this before, a barren land that nonetheless was certainly lived in—empty, yet somehow teeming with life. No, he muses, life-after-death would be more accurate.

“I can’t believe it’s real,” he mumbles, nigh inaudible. “I thought it … I thought they were just some old queen’s tale.” He turns to look at Bouncerumble, who’d come to a stop at the lip of the clearing. “How did you know?”

“The same way I know anything. StarClan’s sign.” Bouncerumble’s voice is clipped, a bit too fast, but who could blame them? Buzzardfur himself isn’t particularly calm, either. “They wanted us to find this. I think … to start WaspClan anew.”

“Start it anew?” Runningripple asks, speaking up from the back of the group. “Why not leave it in the past? That Clan ate itself from the inside out, didn’t it?”

“I heard the last leader’s mate was killed, and she went mad with grief.” Shiveringkit’s little voice is far too bright a chirp for the severity of her words. “I heard she made the other cats practice with their claws out. She even poisoned some of them!”

“Actually, they weren’t mates; Bunnystar was just in love-”

“Stop it, Moorpaw,” Buzzardfur says, and his apprentice falls silent. “We can’t let ourselves get carried away with rumors. We don’t know what happened here, just that it was some clan’s camp. And if Bouncerumble says this is where we should be …”

“Then we should stay here,” Runningripple finishes, padding up to stand beside him. “It’s got more than enough space for us, and StarClan knows Thornstar is too logical to take us back.” She says it with derision, and Buzzardfur can’t help but agree—surely there was a better way to solve an overpopulation crisis than to cast out some of his own cats. “Is everyone in agreement?”

There are some grumblings from the rest of the clan—if it can be called that—but none of them have anything to say, even Hailbark, who always seems to have a gloomy remark in her mouth. 

“Right, then,” Buzzardfur says, and sighs. Thank StarClan Runningripple is taking the lead; he doubts he could have wrangled them the same way as she does. Why they all elected him leader is beyond him. 

He’s taken a few more steps toward the smallest den, nestled in the hollow of a dead tree, before something occurs to him. “What do we call ourselves?”

Bouncerumble’s voice doesn’t hold a hint of uncertainty as they say, “I told you—we’re WaspClan.” 

Buzzardfur turns it over and over in his head. How could they become WaspClan? WaspClan was just a story to scare kits—why would they ever want to be that? The concept fills him with dread, as if the name itself is cursed. But who is he to question StarClan? Who is he to do anything? “Right,” he says finally. “We’re … we’re WaspClan.”

Roseclaw: he has somehow found himself in the position of being both the deputy, a full time nursery caretaker, and a mentor to 2 apprentices and it's a bit much to manage. someone please give him a break he's very overworked. Moorpaw: one of those apprentices, and he's a handful. He acts out for attention because he was from a large litter and never really got enough. Smokepaw: the other apprentice, she's timid and sweet compared to moorpaw.

Roseclaw - A hardworking and kind tom. Roseclaw loves his jobs, but he can still get stressed over them, and he will often be seen shortly after sunrise dashing around camp, trying to arrange patrols, keep an eye on kits, and get his apprentices up and ready, his clanmates have no idea how he does it, and neither does Roseclaw. Roseclaw can never say no to any request , he’s extremely helpful by nature so he can’t ignore someone asking him for help, but he will put his foot down if the kits or his apprentices ask to do something that could be dangerous for them, their safety is his top priority, and he doesn’t know what he would do if anything happened to any of them, 15/10

Moorpaw - A bold and extroverted tom. Moorpaw loves being the centre of attention, and he will often act out, especially during training, showing of his skills, and will even talk loudly and try to show off during gatherings, this does absolutely nothing to help Roseclaw’s stress levels. If Moorpaw doesn’t want to do something, he won’t do it, Roseclaw has given up trying to make him do tick duty to make up for his misbehaviour, Moorpaw will just refuse to do it, even when the clan leader steps in to say his warrior ceremony could be delayed due to his behaviour. Moorpaw will often rush into things head first, with little though for consequences, meaning that an extremely tired Roseclaw has had to rescue him on several occasions, 14/10

Smokepaw - An introverted and gentle she-cat. Smokepaw is considerate of all cats, knows how much of a pawful Moorpaw can be for Roseclaw, so she tries her best to help him out where she can, and do as she is told, she doesn’t want to cause him any more stress than what he is already dealing with. She has tried her best to get through to Moorpaw to find out why he acts this way, but without success. Speaking in front of crowds make her nervous, so she will often keep her head low during meetings and patrols, and she doesn’t like to explore anything unknown, often staying back as other cats investigate, 14/10

Moon 102-Leaf-fall

Moorpaw (14) has finally received her warrior name, Moorleg, in honor of her cunning.  Yuccastar (81)  is a little hesitant about making the bloodthirsty cat a warrior, but. . .she can’t stay in the apprentice’s den forever.  At least she only has a moderately strong wind-blessing.  If she were dark-cursed. . .Yuccastar shudders to think about it.  Even so, if she becomes a threat, Yuccastar knows she can take care of it. Meanwhile, Graypaw (15) is still stuck as a Healer apprentice while his littermate and friends are made warriors.  He doesn’t seem to mind, though.  He enjoys his work, and being the most powerful earth-blessed cat in the Clan. He also enjoys annoying his older sister.  He took Rosemaryquake’s (60)  favorite nesting materials and she was so mad.  It was great! While Chervilcry continues to annoy Chasingskip (14), Stonefreckle (85) actually has a good rapport with her and has been spending more time with her. They can tease each other and not take offense.  They get each other. They can toss each other up in the air with their wind-blessings.  And they both grew up more alone than they should have.  Stonefreckle sometimes wonders if he has bio siblings somewhere, but if he does, he's never met or heard of them. Chasingskip’s siblings are dead.

Moon 101-Greenleaf

Now that Chasingskip (13) is a warrior, Chervilcry (80) is making sure to spend plenty of time with her.  She just wants to make that her last surviving child stays safe and alive.  Is that too much to ask? Chasingskip is a little annoyed and swats at her mom with a gust of air.  Chervilcry just conjures a splat of water in return.  Moorpaw (13) is getting a little fed up with having been an apprentice for so long.  It’s not her fault that she got injured early on in her apprenticeship!  She just wants to go to gatherings with everyone else, as an equal.  Flintkit (2) is having a bit of trouble settling into the Clan.  Needlekit (4) and Frostkit (4) seem to have such a tight knit family, and she has no one.  She doesn’t even have a power.  She goes to Chervilcry for help, and Chervilcry gives her some advice.  Yellowcreek (28) is still feeling like an outcast in the Clan.  He is struggling to connect with anyone and continues to withdraw further into himself.
