DW Habit Becomes More Of A Lil Bitch Near The End
You need money, rent is coming up and your bank account is drained. Your boss said they were closing shop and now you have no job. Panicking you’re now desperately trying to apply for any job you can- half of them you’re not even reading fully. That’s how you ended up where you are now.
You slow your car down at the entrance of the forest. You look around the start of the path waiting for this guy to show up. Evidently you are the only brave soul to apply for a house cleaner gig in the middle of the forest. And what’s even better is that your potential employer calls himself ‘Habit.’ He was pretty strict on his instructions for your arrival.
Pull up to the path entrance and wait for him to show before you start the drive down. Why couldn’t you just go on your own, you aren’t too sure, nor care enough. The clock was ticking on your landlord's watch. So you sit and wait semi-patiently for this wacko to pop up.
Tapping your fingers on the wheel and humming to the radio was starting to get boring, so instead you pull your phone and started to scroll through it. Minutes passed as you zoned out- only to be startled by tapping on the window. You jump up and scrabble to catch the flying hand held before turning to see him.
He stood, hunched over to peer in at you. Cap on his head shading his eyes but you swear you see some kind of reflection. Shaggy dark brown hair gently blew in the breeze, leading your eyes to scan his clothes. A black t-shirt with a skull covered up with a plaid torn jacket. Blue jeans with suspicious stains were tucked into some kind of old worn work boots.
His smile was sharp and eerily too wide. His hand shifted from knocking on your glass to giving you a little wave and wiggle of his fingers. You gulped before slowly rolling down the window a couple of inches and calling out a greeting. He cocked his head to the side a smidge before straightening up.
“Why hello there! Name’s Habit, you’re (y/n) correct?” His voice was a bit scratchy and seemed to vary in pitch. Now that he changed positions you could see his eyes better and they were purple. His irises locked in on you and you swore you could feel the temperature drop a couple of degrees. He shifted on his feet impatiently and every now and then an eye twitched- you think his nose did as well.
Nodding hesitantly to his question was the right answer it seemed. He hummed and then motioned to the pathway and turned to look at it. “Go ahead and follow that. I tied purple ribbon at markings to help guide you. When you get to the split, only go down the marked path, ‘kay?” He looked back to you and waited
His smile widened. “Fantastic!” He turned and strutted off into the treeline. You waited till he disappeared from view before slowly creeping forward onto the gravel. You’re definitely getting murdered here.
Pulling up to the house you try to take it in. It’s a two story wth a small covered porch, an attached garage laid in front of you with the upstairs ontop of it. To the left of the garage was the porch and what you assumed was the front door. You parked the car and got out. Looking around you were a little cofused as to why this man decied to walk the 10 minute car ride instead of driving a vehicle himself. Now you just stood on the steps looking like an idiot- at least there was as cat in the livingroom window pawing at you.
Unfortunately for you however, the door swung open and there he stood with his slightly too wide grin. You blinked once, then twice, before it proccesed. “How the hell did you beat me? I drove!” You asked Habit who only shrugged his shoulders and stepped aside for you to enter.
“Maybe you just drive slow.”
The two of you stop after only a few steps in and he points to your left at the small living room. It was simple with a decent sized mounted tv and a stand underneath it littered with different CD cases. A couch that had its back to you laid with a couple of pillows and a blanket throw over it. On the same wall as the door was a baywindow that had a pet bed on it as well as a cat tree in the front. A fat fluffy cat sat on top of the tree and meowed at you curiously.
If you kept going straight from the door you’d run into the kitchen. It had a cute little island smack dab in center and to the right of it stood the sink, stove, etc. The left side of the island had a table that only fitted six people, a weird looking purple claw hand toy laid on it. A sliding back door was beside the island with curtains drawn open. If you walked to the kitchen but stop before you entered, you’d have a doorway leading to was you assumed was a bathroom or closet. To the right was a stairway going up and a closed door with three different locks.
The place looked lived in by a guy who was both busy and had all the time in the world. There was a couple of photos hung up mixed with video game logos and then some more morbid ones. Shelves that were decorated with dust and miscellaneous objects that looked like they were from the lost and found.
Habit went to the left side of the house and opened the door to reveal what you were correct on the assumption of it being a bathroom. It had a mini closet in it with a couple of towels not even folded. The cats litter box was also in there, it looked spotless and it even had a cute toy hanging on the wall beside it that can be batted around. It looked in decent condition, the small trashcan only half filled and the sink was only disorganized a bit. The shower even seemed decently clean, however it held no shampoo or soap of any kind. You squinted your eyes and thought you could see a thin layer of dust even in it.
He didn’t say much and left the door open while walking away to the staircase. The two of you trudded along in silence up the stairs. From what you made up of it the place all in all didn’t seem like it’d take that long to clean- like two days? The upstairs was a little different while he showed it off. There were four doors and he only opened two of them. Another bathroom that seemed slightly more used and a laundry room that had dust on everything but the washer and dryer.
“You don’t need to go into the other two rooms- infact you don’t even open them.” He stopped and looked at you with a straight face. It was cold and his eyes looked you up and down. The whole thing was bizard to you, who was this guy and what is he hiding behind them? Gods you were so nosy. “Got it?” His spoke a little louder this time.
“Crystal clear.” You shot him a mock salut and then eventually pointed back down the steps. “Though why does that door down there have like three locks dude? You like keeping people held hostage or something?” You joked and wiggled your eyebrows at him. He just stared blankly at you with a flicker of annoyance in his eyes. You stop as he doesn’t respond and you felt your blood grow cold. “Holy shit you are a serial killer- I fucking knew it!”
“Shut the fuck up and stop waving your hands around like a dumbass.” He bit at you before pushing past and marched down the stairs and waved you to the locked door. You took the steps two at a time and gave him a shit eating grin and he just sighed heavily. “Look, I’ll pay you at the end of the week.” He unlocked the top latch. “You just have to clean the area I tell you to when you get here each day until I kick you out.” He moved and undid the second.
“I’ll give you money for food and whatever cleaning shit you need and can keep it here.” After he finished the third he pushed the door open. It swung slowly with a low creak and it revealed old wooden steps disapearing into the darkness. You felt yourself get goose bumps and several red flags started finally clicking in place. “All I ask is you don’t talk about anything you see to anyone but me, simple really your pea sized brain should be able to do that.” He muttered the last bit and grabbed your arm to pull you to the stairs.
You start your decent down and only have one wall to rely on for guidance. What was down here that he needed to keep such a secret and high key threaten you for it? The creaking of the steps only grew louder and you could feel your heart in your throat by the time you hit the bottom. It was cool down here and you could smell something metalic. “I’ll pay ya like $25 an hour. Is that a good amount? I don’t fucking understand this form of payment yet.” He went on to say how stupid and ineffectant it was while he flicked a light switch somewhere.
You squint your eyes and grimace at the sudden brightness. After giving your eyes a second to adjust you take everything in. “I was joking about you being a serial killer dude.” The place was definitely a torture chamber. A metal chair with straps was in the center of the room. Multiple metal rolling table spotted with random tools and utensils on them. One wall held a large collection of knives and blades of all kinds. The place was grey cement, very stained grey cement. There was even a shower spout in a corner with a basket of bloody clothes and towels near it. “Wait did you say $25 an hour?” You spun around to face him. He was standing on the last couple of steps, slouched down against the wall and arms crossed.
He slowly grew a smile and you saw fangs poking his lips, his eyes were for sure reflecting the light. He seemed to be amused by your reaction and huffed quietly. “You got it Honey Bunny.” He stepped down fully and stretched with his arms above his head now, his shirt rode up a hair and you could see the muscles under it. “Im serious about not snitching though.” he lowered his arms. “I’ll hunt down everyone you care for and eat them alive in front of you.
“Dude my rent is due next week, can I get an advance?”
Your first day as a house cleaner for someone who clearly doesn’t have a normal job was boring. He once again instructed you to wait for him at the forest entry when you arrived. The ribbion path was placed differently and seemed to take a few more turns than the first time- but he still was waiting at the door with a smirk. The day before he gave you money and said to get whatever supplies you think you needed and to tell him when you run out. He didn’t mention anything when you indiscreetly pocket one of the $100s and gave him a toothy smile.
Your room for the first shift was the kitchen and livingroom. It seemed simple enough until he said he wanted the furniture all moved and cleaned under. When you tried nudging the couch you found it to be a lot heavier than you thought it’d be. Habit snickered a bit when you let out a grunt and he then wished you luck. He opened the basement door and said to only knock if you needed something urgently and that there was spare cash in the kitchen for whenever you wanted to eat.
It took you a solid two hours to do just the small little living area all because that couch was heavy as shit and it was so covered in dust underneath you could’ve sworn you saw a spider somewhere. Already drenched in sweat, you huff and puffed your way to plop on a stool in front of the island. You gulped down a glass of water greedily and eyed the mountain of papers before you. Releasing a groan of frustration you start on trying to sort throught it all.
It seemed to just be old junk mail and a few bills, all adressed to someone named Evan. Some of this shit seemed to be from three years ago. Half way through the pile you find some papers that made you stop. They appeared to be some kind of police reports and old newspaper clippings pinned together. Missing people from all over the town and surrounding locations, all last known to have entered the treeline.
You shivered and shoved them into the furthest pile away. You already had comformation on what he did in his free time- but that still didn’t make you feel any better about it. Some of the photos you passed through was just pure gore. It made you nauseated to keep looking at it- but your focus was completely drawn in.
The feeling of eyes crawled up your back, you felt a chill in the air. Your breathing studders and your lips felt dry. The realization of tha past three days hits you at once. You’re working for a serial killer. Holy shit you’re in the same house as a serial killer. He’s gonna kill you, you’re gonna die-
“I was wondering where I put those.” His voice was low and seemed to prick through your flesh. It vibrated the whole area around you. Two hands seemed to find their place on either side of you on the counter. His chin made home on your shouler and you then felt it. Warm and wet- dark red spalttered up his arms and down his face. The smell of blood was so strong you gagged a little and attempted to lean away. He only moved one hand to your side and pulled you back against him and he chuckled lowly.
“Not so much fun now? You seemed so excited to pocket my bloody money yesterday! Eyes wide and a stupid dorky little grin on your face.” His nose dragged down your neck and you felt each puff of air leave him. His teeth grazed you softly and you felt his lips turn into a grin. “Poor thing. Can’t quiet back out of it now huh?” He giggled a liitle before he pulled away from your form. The sticky feeling of blood was slowly cooling your skin, but the rush of warmth that coated your veins fought it.
He hummed some tune quietly while he trailed around to the otherside of the island and leaned down. He placed his elbows down and plopped his head in his hands while giving you a lazy grin. “You eat yet? I’m starved!” You slowly shook your head and mentioned you wanted to order a pizza and he shrugged. “Sure but you gotta go up to the driveway and meet ‘em there. They sure as shit aren’t coming all the way down.” You agreed to it mainly for some space and fresh air.
The next couple of days dragged on. Eventually you had cleared all the rooms he allowed you- outside of the basement. You just finished the laundry room and it definitely made you sneeze more than once. Habit was locked away downstairs- he had yet to let you back down there after the initial introduction. Outside of the weirdly intimate moment with the island, he always comes up dripping with clean water and a pair of sweats on. Sometimes he wore a shirt and on the days he didn’t you felt your face warm.
His body showed his work. You can tell he hauls heavy weight and knows how to throw it around with ease. His muscles had water droplets trailing down to the low rise of his waistband. It didn’t take a genius to tell he wasn’t wearning anything else underneath. The happy trail was dark and curled slightly from the moisture, a very visible bulge was at the end. He caught your gaze and gave you a cheeky grin and winked at you before he practically bounced upstairs.
You refused his gaze the rest of that shift. He only cooed and teased you while he poked and pinched your cheek. You shook your head of the memeory and lazily waltzed into the hall. One of the forbidden doors was open ajar, and as far as you knew the coast was clear. You crept to the open door and nudged it open slowly. It was thankfully quiet and you hoped it remained that way.
You saw a switch and flipped it. The light turned on and you didn’t even know how to procces it. There was another hallway, four more doors, and the paintings seem to be melting. You cautiously took a step forward and as soon as you placed one foot down- you felt the room shift. Everything seemed to dull slightly and you felt a wave a nausea float overhead. You stumbled for a second and caught yourself on one of the doors. You bumped into the handle and you felt the door giveway under your weight.
Your body flew down and you thumped on to the ground. You gasped sharply and looked around in pain. The forest surrounded you, you somehow are in the forest. “What the fuck?” You slowly had pulled yourself up and turned to look at the door and see only it. No house behind, just an open archway into the mystery hall. You pushed yourself back in and closed it tightly before you turned to another one. Your hand grasped the knob and turned it open.
This one seemed to lead to a bridge. It stretched out long and it was pitch black out, you closed it. You heard the slammed of the basement door hitting the wall and you quickly scurried back out into the main hallway. You closed the door quietly and went to pick up a random basket of folded laundry. The heavy thump of his boots sounded in your ears, slow and lazy. You met him at the top of the stairway and locked eyes.
He didn’t bother to clean up this time. His body was covered head to toe in blood, it trailed in his shadow. You felt your heart beat against your chest hard- it echoed in your ears. He had a smile on his face, it didn’t reach his eyes. His head slowly tilted to the side and his sholders slouched inwards. His fingers twitched and his own breaths were labored, you noted his tightened jaw. His eyes glowed softly a faint purplish hue. He looked wild, insane. Like some hungry predator and you the unlucky prey.
“Follow me, I need your help downstairs.” Was all he said before retreating. You placed the basket back down and shakily followed him down the steps and into the basement. The bile immediately rise in your throat and you threw a hand over your mouth to stop it. Some guy was strapped to the chair and withering in pain. He was gagged and basically torn open. His eyes were bloodshot and tear stained. He looked at you in horror and slightly with hope.
“D’aww look at that.” Habit cooed out while he pushed you harshly forward. “He thinks you’re gonna help him!” One hand cupped around your sholder and he shoved you onto your knees in front of the gored man.”What a fucking moron am I right?” A cruel chuckle was forced out of his lips. He leaned down to your ear and you felt his breath. He sharply nipped at you playfully and licked at the little drops of blood that formed at your neck. You yelped and tried to shove him off only to have him slam you into the ground and on your stomach.
He sucked in a breath and sighed loudly while throwing his arms out wide. “But not as nearly as stupid as you!” He laughed loudly and turned his attention to your folded form. You felt the tears wield up in your eyes as you sniffle and push up to sit. “All you had was two rooms.” He placed his hands on his hips and tutted with a headshake. “Two little rooms you couldn’t go in- yet you still did.” Habit took two long strides to you and crouched down. His fingers found your chin and gently tilted your head up before grabbing hold of your cheeks. He squeezed harshly and gave you a little shake while he pouted his lips out.
“I really was starting to grow used to your little busy body.” He stood while still being attached to you, causing you to be dragged up as well. He removed his hand and placed both on your shoulders before he spung you around to the man again. “Oh well, guess you can help do some extra wok yeah?” He gave you a light shake again and giggled a bit, lips drawn into that stupid inhumanly large smirk. “I’ll give ya a pay raise even- pinkie promise.”
Your whole body shook in fear and you couldn’t even see clearly in front of you. You didn’t even register your boss, your captor, leaving and returning shortly. He grabbed your hand and placed a knife in it before curling his fingers around you. He shuffled you both to the body and raised your hand to one of the strapped down arms. He humed in glee and guided you into the gentle carving of flesh. You don’t rember fully the rest of the harvesting. Just bits and peices of you holding different organs and chunks of limbs and the bagging and tagging of them.
At the end of it Habit dragged you both to the water spout the turned it on. He helped strip you both and rinse off, not a single word said. He just hummed softly to himself while he dried your two bodies and clothed them. He led you up the stairs and up the second set into the hallway. He took you to the second door you were forbidden from, and he opened it up. It was a bedroom, his bedroom. It was somewhat organized and neat seeming. The bed was piled with blankets in a weird circle shape.
“Come on Honey Bunny, you look tired.” He murmured into your ear while he pulled you into the sheets. He covered you up and curled himself around your body. His hands fitted around your stomach and his face nuzzled into your neck. He nosed you and gave your cheek a peck. “You did so much today! You can stay the night I ‘spose.” You felt numb and tired and so so confused as to how you ended up here.
You know that you should have turned around at the first sign of something being wrong, but you were too stubborn to do so. But at the same time he was so warm and you were too drained to care. You slowly leaned back into him and closed your eyes. The soft rumbling coming from his chest lulled you to sleep.
