Angst, hurt/comfort, fluff, enemies to lovers, I don’t write smut
Heyyy, so I’ll be using lore from the books, show and movie as well as my imagination. Obviously I don’t own any Percy Jackson universe characters this is purely fanfiction. I haven’t read the books in a long long time so this is gonna be a little interesting. Characterization will probably not be spot on. Luke is still not an amazing person in this series I made him a bit better maybe but we’ll see when I get to later plot points. Reader uses she/her pronouns. I hope you enjoy this part and if you haven’t read the others check out my Masterlist to get caught up and catch updates! Enjoy and thank you!
Hiiii, so I recently finished watching the Percy Jackson show FINALLY, I LOVED it and I’ve been inspired lol. I read the books as a kid but that was a while ago and I REALLY don’t remember them. I might re read them but I don’t wanna do all that before I write cause I have an interesting idea for this fic. It’s DEFINITELY fanfic tho cause like as I said I remember ZERO anything from the books. Takes place before the events of lightening thief I guess but like idk really. Bear with me, hope you enjoy. If your expecting correct characterization of Luke, or anyone for that matter, you’re in the wrong place lol.
Warnings: highkey an unhealthy relationship reader and Luke both have issues, depression, suicidal thoughts and actions, family issues, codependency, manipulation, violence
Part One: “I’m Luke Castellan”
It was the summer of 2004, you were seventeen and alone on the boardwalk of Hampton Beach, New Hampshire. Well you weren’t technically alone, your Uncle Jake was held up at some bar where he’d most likely spend the whole week. You sat on the balcony of the Mermaid Inn, in a crappy plastic chair. You wore a hot pink bikini top you’d embroidered with beaded shell patterns and ripped low waisted blue shorts you’d glued silver studs too. For shoes you had your classic light pink converse that looked like they’d been beaten within an inch of their lives. Finally you had your golden necklace with a single light pink pearl.
You decided to head down to the arcade. You had spent all of senior year working waiting tables, sure you didn’t make much but the tips helped a lot. You had some money to spend and nothing but time. As you walked into the arcade you spotted a boy around your age. He had dark curly hair and dark eyes. He was wearing old blue jeans and a deftones t shirt. Around his neck was a leather necklace with some colorful beads strung on. He wore beat up black converse. As he smoked a cigarette something about him caught your attention. You were always able to read people quite easily. You could tell peoples feelings towards others and their emotions in general. The boy gave you a sad feeling but under the sadness was something darker, it was anger. You snapped out of whatever trance you’d been in and headed inside the arcade. As you stepped inside he glanced in your direction before returning to his cigarette. You walk over to your favorite game, ski ball. Twenty minutes go by and your usual feelings of impending doom and the pointlessness to your life catch up to you. You decide to go for a walk on the beach but first you take your tickets to see if you could get a couple pink starbursts or something. The man behind the desk is wearing sunglasses inside. For a moment you swear you see something on the side of his face, an eye. No it can’t be, you think. You brush a stray piece of hair behind your ear and see the boy who was smoking earlier is now standing behind you in line. Other than him the arcade is empty you notice.
“Well, isn’t this a treat I was only sent for the girl but now here two half bloods have fallen into my lap,” the man behind the counter says.
You’re extremely confused, “excuse me?” You say. Suddenly the man takes off his sunglasses and you can clearly see a 100 eyes all over him. On his face, his neck, his arms. Your eyes widen with shock and you begin to back away slowly. The boy from outside grabs your arm and pulls you back, causing you to stumble slightly.
“Run,” he says as he drops your hand and takes a dagger from his pocket. You don’t run though, how can you. The man behind the counter eyes now revealed looks more like a monster than a man. He lunches at the boy with the dagger and you push him out of the way causing the monster to land on top of you. The monster holds you down, digging its nails into your shoulder and you yell in pain. The boy stabs the monsters back and suddenly it disappears into thin air to reveal the boy standing above you. He offers his hand and helps you up.
“What were you thinking!” He angrily says.
“What was that thing!” You yell in horror.
“Argus,” is all the boy says in return.
You wince at the pain coming from the gashes from the monsters nails. “You’ve gotta clean that up,” he says casually. You lift your arm to get a better look but it only makes the pain worse. “Ahhh,” a few tears escape from your eyes. The boy just stares at you puzzled for a minute.
“Shit,” he says suddenly as a look of realization washes over his face. “Who’s your parent?” He weirdly asks.
“Your Godly parent who is it?” He asks.
“I have no idea what you’re…talking about,” you say as your voice gives out. You collapse to the ground, passing out from shock and pain.
You wake up a couple minutes later. The boy has propped you up against the counter and is sitting in front of you on the ground. You open your eyes to see his dark eyes meeting yours. He raises a water bottle with the label ripped off, there’s not water inside and honestly you’re not sure what’s in there.
“Here drink this,” he says passing you the bottle. You go to grab it but your side begins to burn again. You retract your arm, in too much pain to move much. He sighs slightly and moves so he’s beside you on the ground. He opens the bottle and brings it close to your face. “This will help,” he says.
“Nectar,” he says. You have absolutely no clue what he’s talking about. But how much worse could things get. Reluctantly you drink from the banged up water bottle. Instantly you become more awake.
“What the hell is that stuff,” you say as feeling returns to your arm.
The boy smirks slightly and says, “I told you, nectar”
“I have no idea what nectar is,” you say aggressively.
“How did no one find you,” he mutters under his breath.
“You’re a half blood,” he says like it’s a matter of fact.
“Which parent did you never meet?” He asks.
You hesitate before saying, “my mom.”
“A goddess,” he says. “You ever had any run ins with things like googly eyes before?”
“Course not, I don’t just walk around getting attacked by monsters do you?” You say sarcastically.
“Yeah actually,” he says. “You have anyone? Family or anyone?”
“No idea really. He’s gotta be on the beach somewhere. He’ll remember I exist eventually and stumble back,” you say.
“Right,” he says. He extends his hand. “Come on the nectar will help but we’ve gotta clean that wound,” he says.
You hesitate to take his hand, “i don’t know what that thing was or why it attacked me, I don’t know who you are, I don’t even know your name,” you say.
He helps you stand and once you two are face to face, as close as you can be since he’s taller than you, he says, “I’m Luke Castellan, and you are?”
“Y/N, Y/L/N” you say. Normally you’d be more hesitant to trust a complete stranger but you were low on options and high on the adventure of whatever was going on.
Heyyy, hope you enjoyed reading. Once again I KNOW my characterization is gonna be awful but I lowkey just don’t care. Also I know Luke is an AWFUL person I just think this fic idea is interesting and trust me I will not be making Luke a good guy in this. Expect Anakin Skywalker vibes. Anyway if you liked it stay tuned for the next parts and check out my Masterlist please. Thank you!🩷
