Standing by your morals

I believe that when it comes to core values, defining and communicating them will mean nothing, if those values don’t drive us to live better lives.

For me, when I look back on my childhood, it wasn’t the things my mum said once that were of the most value, but the things she constantly repeated and for good reason. If something is to be defined as important, it must be frequently repeated, if it is to become part of us.

Unless we continue to reinforce core values into our lives, their value will be of little significance to us or anyone else. Core values show others what we stand for guides us on a more spiritual path and ultimately becomes our lasting legacy when we’re no longer around.

Our country's moral standing in the world began to decline and anti-American sentiment began to rise when our leaders decided that war was justified in order to protect our "national interests" as opposed to being a last resort for protecting merely our "national security". Admittedly, the difference between national interests and national security can at times be ambiguous, which made the transition easier to preach and to be believed. However, it is neither moral nor accurately described as reasonable self defense to send our military people into combat over natural resources or to further the profits of the military industrial complex. Ensuring the safety of the American people should be the only acceptable reason for entering armed conflicts.

My conscience

There are 2 people in my life who I just recently started talking to again and they are 2 side of my moral compass. Like all compasses they have 4 directions. Mine is always either going left,right,east, and west. But with these 2 people one makes me go forward in life the other makes me go back but I still like them equally. People tell me to distant myself from the one who tries to put me on the wrong path but I don't see it as a bad path I just see it as him being him.
