Anyone who loves the Camino or more generally loves Spain will find this book a good read. A former journalist, Rebekah Scott knows how to tell the compelling story of her life as a resident foreigner and sometime hospitalera in the tiny Palencian village she has chosen to call home. At almost the exact halfway point between the beginning of the Camino Francés in Roncesvalles and its destination of Santiago de Compostela, the hamlet of Moratinos is not the normal destination of foreigners who choose to live in Spain. There are no beaches nor much in the way of high culture nearby, it is blazing hot in summer and cold in winter. Scott and her husband have made the village on the meseta their home and seem to have thrived there. Strongly recommend!
