First Race - Half marathon Blansko
Hi! I’m Ruchie and I’m happily married for 5 years now. My husband Daji is a great person, very kind and caring.
Several months ago Daji decided that he wants to run in a half marathon race. Well, why not, I thought. So I did my best to support him. We bought a pair of running shoes, clothes, sport tester, etc. He started with training, not just running, but also spinning and other sport activities.
And today it’s the day of his first race ever. Half marathon in a beautiful countryside of Moravsky Kras in Czech Republic. I’m excited, but also worried. And I want to share this day with my friends, so that’s why I created this blog. I will post notes and photos from today’s event!
Moravský kras (the Moravian Karst) is the largest karst landscape in the Czech Republic. There are many notable geological features, including roughly 1100 caverns and covers an area of roughly 92 km².
The Macocha Abyss (propast Macocha) is a gorge 138 m deep and the largest of it's kind in the Central Europe. It's is also the place where the Punkva River begins to run underground through the Punkevní cave system (accessible on a boat), and two small pools of water are visible at the surface. On the most valuable part of the area was declared a protected landscape area of the Moravian Karst.
The Moravian Karst is a popular tourist attraction in the local area, and large numbers of tourists visit in the summer months. In addition to caverns, the nature preserve also contains well-marked bicycle trails and hiking paths to explore.
