🦀 SILKS 🦀 ARE 🦀 GONE 🦀
moray, onyx, and greatness would be the portland polycue of the wings of fire world.
Regent moray was not in my arc 4 bingo card. The whole queens disappearing event is so funny in context of my wof world building especially for moray. She goes to take a 15 minute sleep before coral bugs her ass but her dad comes in like:
Your aunt is gone my prayers have been answered
Thinking about my rhs world building and OCS. I realized the Moray is never officially referred to as a princess and her father never as prince despite that title being more important than commander.
So hear me out: Moray is considered a bastard and with how coral is when she's talking about Gill there is a focus on marriage and legitimacy. Coral has a bone to pick with her brother and having a bastard daughter would give her enough reason to strip
This situation also reminds me of how Lagoon treats Albatross. I've always been a fan of 'albatross is an icewing hybrid' because it makes a lot of narrative sense as to why sapphire and lagoon hate him from moment one and why lagoon feels compelled to use his as much as she does. Albatross was a bastard but got legitimized because who can tell the current ruling queen no? This added an air of stigma for those born out of wedlock for years to come
Craziest shit with wof I don't remember doing is when I first got the lost heir gn back when it first released I bookmarked all the pages Moray appeared in
“It was called the Blight as we didn't have the means to investigate the infection with the war going on.” Moray called out in the air to the dragons following alongside her. The sea breeze was strong today with vast clouds on the horizon. Much more lively than it was on their way back to the island last night. Maybe it was the comfort of being active again and the weight of impending responsibility can be waved away temporarily. “The deaths caused by the infection were recorded for later investigation. The challenge is we need to find the right documents as we have kept consistent records since Queen Pearl the first.” “And where were they kept?” Tsunami flew closer to her side to ask the question. “The only place paper can be kept. The summer palace.” she met her eyes, only for Tsunami to turn them away. No one particularly liked talking about what happened. The blame for who caused its destruction was thrown around frequently between traitors, the talons of peace, and the dragonets themselves for being raised by non-seawings. It was a fundamental part of the throne and the monarchy it seats. Not as old or storied like the deep palace, but a cornerstone of history and traditions. Animus built with the dragons in the generations following carving it out to perfection by claw. Hence, the location they're heading towards. While the main structure was destroyed, the SkyWings weren't interested in looting seeing the valuables crashed into the sea water. But that allowed many of the later additions to be saved. The rooms built into the cliff face. Thus the archives. Among other chambers saved from the war.
I prommy I'm working on the next chapter

I love that every single moray panel in the graphic novels are her yelling in distress. It really matches her character.
