morcied in highschool except derek is jock football boy with an eccentric nerdy gf and they see this literal child roaming the halls by himself and penelope decides they are going to adopt him

Why can I see Spencer on his seventh or eighth cup of coffee and just having it wordlessly taken away from him by his partner. They don’t even explain they just take it away because he’s all jittery and then proceed to make it impossible for him to get any more.

When Spencer can’t sleep he has a habit of wandering into the living room to watch documentaries, while Derek and Penelope have no interest in the beginning of the industrial revolution they have a habit of following him and keeping him company late into the night. He doesn’t often say how much it means to him- but they know. They always know.

Spencer’s first Halloween at the BAU headcanons?

Yeah! Cool. (Also I know you sent another one a couple days ago but it disappeared on me? I may have accidentally deleted it, I’m not sure. Send it again if you remember and I’d be glad to answer. Sorry!) l never really write about Gideon or Elle so this was interesting.

Spencer’s first Halloween with the b.a.u comes around shortly after he joins the team. They’ve just gotten back from a case the day before meaning they where in for a long boring days of paperwork.

He wears a tie littered with little smiling Jack-o-lanterns.

He changes the laces in his converse to a orange set (that he’ll admittedly never wear again).

He also wears an orange and brown sweater vest (because his sense of style was a loveable atrocity.)

Derek teases him endlessly about the outfit but he can’t even find it in himself to be upset about it because while he’s still learning the difference between teasing with malice and teasing friendship he can tell there’s nothing mean about how Derek is speaking.

He gets pumpkin spice lattes with Penelope.

“Did you know that pumpkin spice dates back to the Dutch and East Indian company? It’s been a thing for 3,500 years!” (She didn’t know that.)

Hotch tells him his tie is “nice” but unprofessional (he lets Spencer keep the tie on under the circumstances that he changes it if they have to rush out on a case).

Gideon gives him a large book about the origins of halloween, this seems to confuse the others but no one comments. (Halloween is Spencer’s favourite holiday because it’s the only one there isn’t bad memories clouding, Gideon knows this and the book was on sale…)

JJ makes a comment about not knowing where Jack-O-Lanterns come from but admiring that they’re rather peculiar.

“The practice of decorating jack-o'-lanterns originated in Ireland, where large turnips and potatoes served as early canvasses. In fact, the name, jack-o'-lantern, comes from an Irish folktale about a man named Stingy Jack.” Spencer recites like he’s reading it out of a book. “The practice was brought to America by Irish immigrants sometime around the 19th century.”

When he finishes his paperwork he ends up entrapped into a conversation with Elle about Halloween traditions and how they vary depending on region.

He ends up spending the night with Derek and Penelope watching scary movies and handing out candies to kids.

His first Halloween at the b.a.u lead to the first time he felt like he truly had friends after Ethan, and that is something he’ll never forget.
