Why can I see Spencer on his seventh or eighth cup of coffee and just having it wordlessly taken away from him by his partner. They don’t even explain they just take it away because he’s all jittery and then proceed to make it impossible for him to get any more.

When Spencer can’t sleep he has a habit of wandering into the living room to watch documentaries, while Derek and Penelope have no interest in the beginning of the industrial revolution they have a habit of following him and keeping him company late into the night. He doesn’t often say how much it means to him- but they know. They always know.

Morcied on Halloween

It’s Spencer’s favourite holiday, Penelope enjoys it and Derek goes with it because he loves his partners.

Group costumes every year, the two highlights being the year they went as a football player, ref, and cheerleader.

And the year they did a group costume with Emily & JJ as the Scooby-Doo crew.

Derek is forced to help decorate that outside of the house (but not to scary because they don’t want to scare the young kiddos on their block - Penelope).

Penelope cautiously does makeup on Spencer, textures are difficult with him and Derek is there prepared to immediately wipe off something he reacts adversely too.

Spencer likes carving Jack-o-lanterns but will cry if his hands touch pumpkin guts, Penelope gets him special gloves and removes the pumpkin guts herself (Derek follows her around cleaning up with mess with an exasperated smile)

Spencer & Penelope get overly excited about handing candy out to kids and sit on their step all night, Derek sits back on the porch stairs and watches smiling apologetically at parents when they dump handfuls of candy into kids bags.

They drink hot apple cider all night.

When the curfew for kids collecting candy hits they go back inside to watch Halloween movies.

It starts with horror movies, moves to horror movies while cuddling obscenely close to Derek and holding hands, and ends with children’s Halloween movies.

They all curl up in bed together at the end of the night in themed pyjamas, Spencer tells spooky stories from memory.

By the end of the night they’re all out cold cuddled close together (night light and bathroom light on).

Every Halloween since Spencer joined the team Penelope has bought a small Halloween themed stuffed animal and left it on Spencer’s desk. It’s just one of those small inter-team traditions that keeps them going.
