Downton Abbey Oppositions Tag Game

1. Favourite plotline from your least favourite season?

This is so hard! Does Thomas and Jimmy getting to be friends in Season 4 count? It’s either that or Thomas getting Nanny West fired. There are lots more I could pick to be honest.

2. Least favourite plotline from your favourite season?

My favourite season is probably Season 3, although I struggle to choose a favourite. In that, my least favourite plotline is the conflict between Robert and Cora after Sybil dies. Yes, things could have gone better, but they both acted in the ways they thought best and neither wanted Sybil to die. I think this plotline went on for a tiny bit too long, but I still appreciate it being there. Does any of that make sense?

3. What’s a quality that you actually like about (one of) your least favourite main/regular character(s)?

Carson. I cannot stress how much I loathe this human. However, I will admit that his eyebrows are phenomenal. And his voice. His naivety is occasionally charming.

4. What’s your least favourite quality of your favourite character?

Thomas Barrow is my favourite by far and means a lot to me. I’m going to say my least favourite quality is his self-hatred, not because it puts me off him, but because it was so sad and distressing to see him feel that way. It would be wonderful to see him learn to love himself. Otherwise, he’s flawless. I see no faults. Perfection.

5. What’s your favourite thing that your least favourite main/regular character has done?

Because I went with Carson before, I’ll go with Alfred now. This is a close tie between O’Brien, Richard Carlisle, Tony Gillingham, and Mr Green, but I tend to see less about Alfred so here we are. The best thing he did was defend Ivy, but this is marred for me by the way he treated Daisy.

6.  What’s your least favourite thing that your favourite character has done?

Back to Thomas. His comment about Cora’s miscarriage was far from fantastic.

7. What’s a positive aspect about (one of) your least favourite ship(s)?

One of my least favourite ships is Alfred and Daisy, but a positive thing that came from it was Daisy gaining confidence and realising she has value as a person. She also realised that she doesn’t have to be treated badly by men and that she is more than capable of sticking up for herself.

8. What’s an aspect about your favourite ship that you don’t like?

I’m Thommy trash, so I’m going to say that my least favourite part of that is Julian Fellowes. That and Jimmy’s incessant overcompensation and toxic-masculinity. It’s mostly Julian Fellowes.

9. What’s your favourite and least favourite styling/outfit of your favourite and/or least favourite character? (feel free to add pics if you want!)

Thomas’ army uniform. Stunning. Flawless. Buttons. Hair. Confidence. Audacity. Buttons. Also, buttons. Incredible. Lastly, buttons. In conclusion; buttons.

Me getting ready to ace that one question in tomorrow’s science exam that’s about drugs and pregnancy

So I took a little break from Dawn of a New Life, and went through my drive and saw this little doc named “Time 27″ and I just had to work on it.

The fandom is Katekyo Hitman Reborn if you’re interested.

So, KHR was like the first fandom I started writing fanfics for (my early attempts--which included another OC insert--have been deleted off the internet so don’t even try to search for them), so it has a special place in my heart and I’m very happy to post KHR again. 

Now excuse me while I procrastinate more on DoaNL and write some more SoL chapters because writing those author notes gave me ideas. 

And maybe work on some other stories that I’m hoping to post. There’s a reason I say I’m overwhelmed by plot bunnies

The closing song of the season premiere of American Horror Story: Hotel is Hotel California. No, thanks. What happened AHS? You used to be cool. I loved the first three seasons. Couldn’t watch the fourth because of that fucking clown, but I didn’t hear many positive things anyway. Seems like the writers have come to rely too much on shock and awe and forgot about an absorbing plot.

Unless this was Murphy and Falchuk’s plan all along: grab everyone’s attention with a show seemingly driven by its characters, then as the seasons pass, intentionally forget about everything but what can gross out and offend people the most, just like the way America has become progressively desensitized to violence and gore, just like junkies chasing the high and finding it harder and harder to reach euphoria. Because that is the real American horror story. (By the by, three heroin users were shown in the first episode this season. *whistles Puff the Magic Dragon*)

But maybe I’m giving them more credit than they deserve. Maybe they have no idea what they’re doing, and they’ve fallen into the pattern because that’s just what happens. Maybe they are victims of the very cultural trend I thought they were smart enough to try to expose.

Had a very lovely night not studying for my exam. Had a game night with some great friends and we were laughing so much my cheeks hurt. I hope all of you have a lovely day/night as well :)
