Fuck it time to rate some fish:

Veiltail:

Classic, iconic, streamlined and beautiful. The fins are small enough that they don’t impair movement or cause stress in currents. The smooth edges also make it easy to identify rips and fin rot!

10/10 - Too Iconic to score lower.

Crowntail:

I honestly hate crown and comb tails. The fins are still small enough to not impair movement, which is a plus. But the irregular edges make it hard to identify fin rips or rot, and I honestly don’t think it looks very nice!

3/10 - Just don’t like those edges!

Double tail:

That’s just so much fin! Look at it all! and those smooth edges? Great for diagnosis. Currents will probably be stressful for a DT, and they should have plenty of near surface hammocks (As should all bettas really, but definitely prioritize them for larger finned varieties.) Such lovely fins are not weightless!

7/10 - Pretty good fish I’d say!

Spade tail:

My favorite! Just look at this lovely lad! I can’t even begin to elaborate on how elegant and lovely I think spade tails are! They’re just gorgeous! And the small fins mean easy swimming and no current stress! Win win!

15/10 - This is what peak Betta looks like.

Half Moon:

I think half moons are incredibly lovely fish, but their incredibly long anal fins are prone to drag and require plenty of spots to rest. Only the beginning of doily-fication though.

6/10 - I had to type anal fin for this, sorry that loses points.
