Min morfar pt.2
I am tired I am weak I call your name in the empty forest – There is no return. The clouds you stroll upon Beat me down - You escape my grasp Like the red balloon when I was three. Please forgive me I am not good I was not enough I should have been better But it’s far too little Far far too late.
I miss you morfar.
I am so tired, I am so hurt, I hope you rest with ease And watch over me.
You protected me. You loved me. I did not deserve you.
I cried in the forest today, And stumbled back home.
I was looking through some old photos on my computer, and I found this fabulous photo of my morfar (maternal grandfather) looking sharp in the 70's (before I was born) with his leather coat and his Volvo. That's the last car he ever bought, he drove me and my sister around in that thing until he wasn't able to drive any longer in the late 90's.
Out of all my grandparents - and parents too actually - he was the adult who entertained me most as a kid, played cards with me, got me interested in learning to play an instrument, drew pictures to go with my little stories. My mother says that was true of him as a father as well, he was the one of her parents to play with her.
He and my mormor would bicker a lot, but if anyone spoke out of turn to her, he would defend her fiercly. My sister and I were their only grandkids and they spoiled us, with both material things and their time. I wish my teenage self had been more appriciative of them, now that they've both been gone for decades.
Anyway, just felt like posting this picture when I found it.
